Aluma-Bass Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I was wondering how many of you fish with those lil butt seats and how you like them? I like idea of having something to lean on while standing with out all the bulkness of a seat with a back on it. Just curious on everyones opinion... Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 27, 2009 Super User Posted May 27, 2009 On bassboats, they are way more popular than sit-down seats and more used than no support at all. An observation at any lake will indicate it. Their use on small boats should be limited to ones that are stable with a higher center of gravity. I had two of them on my former fiberglass bassboat and have one for my aluminum bassboat. Quote

Super User 5bass Posted May 27, 2009 Super User Posted May 27, 2009 I have the 'bike' seats on my boat. The ones I have can be tilted also. I mainly use mine to lean against during a long day on the water. Very nice to have but certainly not necessary. Quote
OH-bass614 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 i have a little 14ft john with one and i usualy have it down and out of the way unless my legs are shaking im soo tired Quote
NBR Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I bought my first performance bass boat used and the guy had both a butt seat and a regular sit down seat with a back. The butt seat was installed so my first time out with the boat I used the but seat. When I got back I installed the sit down seat and went fishing the next day. As soon as I got back from fishing I reinstalled the butt seat and I'd have nothing else on the front deck unless I had a physical condition that required a sit down seat. Quote
cato Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I personally like mine because I like to stand 99% of the time to fish and it is just right to take a break for a few minutes and have something to prop on and give my legs and feet a rest for a bit. Quote

Olebiker Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I started using one last year and find that I have a lot more boat control when using it. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 30, 2009 Super User Posted May 30, 2009 I use a butt seat up front, it works well but sometimes I like to sit as well. If I'm fishing alone I pull the regular seat I have in the rear pedestal and use it for sitting. Another thing I've done if I have just a regular fishing seat up front is to set the pedestal all the way up, fold the seat down, turn it backwards and lean against the seat back. Ok, it's probably not good for the seat back and frame but it works in a pinch. Quote
