21qdodge Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 So I have the shimano curado 71xg and I don’t know where it stands in versions. Like what is the next model? What is the difference between the curado 71xg, the curado mgl k, the curado 201xg k?? Quote
Nathan.bass.canada Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Spool size, type and year. Kind of a hard question to answer considering they are just different models. Think of it as a Porsche 911, carrera 4, gts, gt3, turbo, turbo S, carrera S, etc. Plenty of variants of a reel work the same. nathan Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 5, 2020 Super User Posted November 5, 2020 The 70 generally has a smaller spool and a more compact size than the 200k. If you are using 15lb and lighter line, the 70 is good and if you may run something heavier or periodically switch, the 200k is the way to go Quote
21qdodge Posted November 5, 2020 Author Posted November 5, 2020 How good is the shimano curado mgl k? Does it work well with heavier baits? Quote
LCG Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 The MGL excels with lighter lures. The standard is good for larger lures and more line capacity. I use the Curado K for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, crankbaits, etc. I recently picked up a SLX MGL for light texas rigs, weightless plastics etc. Both will do the job good enough, but I wanted to get something different and more specific for what I am using. Both are excellent reels. Quote
