TcRoc Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I am really liking these boxes. For a terminal box I actually have the Academy H20 inbound as it seems like it will work well but a fraction of the price .. still liking the Plano Edge though. When I go out I reorganize what I want and go .. I don’t like things tangled up and am done with typical boxes.. slipping under dividers , not sealing tight. 3 Quote
mcipinkie Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 You must be done with your bank account, or you don't have a lot of tackle, or Plano sponsors you. I have 27 - 3700's or equivalent in my Skeeter. Half of them are the old BPS double sided boxes. A few are the waterproof ones with the seal ring. I carry lots of stuff. Plus have twice that much more in the basement. Don't start on me. Every bit of it is absolutely essential. If you like them, more power to you, but I've looked at those boxes. Don't really see anything that works for me, as much stuff as I carry. Way too expensive. I have three double sided boxes with just jerk baits. Probably 30 - 40 in each box. If you could get 10 in one of the Edge boxes, I'd be surprised. I'd need 12 - 15 boxes just of jerk baits at $35 each. Say $400 in tackle boxes. That's 16 more Vision 110's. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 5, 2020 Super User Posted November 5, 2020 Funny you mention this because this video review of their jig popped up in my Youtube feed, and I decided to pick one up for myself (should get it on Friday). I got in on Amazon for a little over $18 after taxes, which isn't bad if it's as nice as they said in that review. I generally run the indestructible Bass Mafia bait coffins (and I have some regular plano, a plano spinnerbait box and a plano deep diver box) but they don't have a 3700 sized jig box like this and this will hold far more jigs than the Bass Mafia 3700, and the one handed operation seems nice. I am referencing when I go out. Having a hand full of these boxes is all I need when I go out... to be more specific with a backpack .No where did I state all of my stock in tackle is going in these . 31 minutes ago, Boomstick said: Funny you mention this because this video review of their jig popped up in my Youtube feed, and I decided to pick one up for myself (should get it on Friday). I'd have to count but I'll bet I've got 30-40 in my Plano Edge box with my jerkbaits. The jig/bladed jig box is excellent also and I'm planning on getting the spinnerbait box as well. I've yet to find a regular box that kept the rust away (having to replace dozens of split rings and hooks is way more expensive than 1 box and extremely frustrating), but so far so good with the Edge boxes. Super User Boomstick Posted November 6, 2020 Super User Posted November 6, 2020 I just got the jig box in today and loaded up a handful of jigs. I will probably fill it up more on Black Friday buy more jigs and just keep this one in the back of my kayak's BlackPak and keep my current 3700 in my tackle bag, loaded with a slimmed down (but functional) selection),since when I'm in the kayak, I fish jigs a lot more often. I appreciate the 3700 shaped design for this reason. I was able to fit 1/2oz project Z chatterbaits in no problem. I put them in the column 2nd to the right that had more space to the left so the blade didn't hit hooks on the left. The only downside if there is one, is wider jigs like football head jigs have to either skip a space or be added in reverse order but I still have great storage. Quote
Shimano_1 Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I just got the jig box and standard 3700 for jerkbaits. Honestly took all my jigs back out. Didn't like how some fit some didn't, skirts getting hung under other heads. Apparently most are thrilled with it and I may try it again someday but for now its put away empty. The standard 3700 may have held 30 jerkbaits. Had to take about 5 out that fit fine in a regular 3700 but other than that seems solid and I think I'll like it. Ive never had a rust problem I don't leave my tackle in the boat so I can see that being a big factor if I did. Jury is still out for me. I too got mine from Amazon for 18 bucks a piece Quote

So how do you and others end up with rusted split rings or hooks, do you put wet baits back in a box? I use a Rubbermaid shoe box that I turned into a hydro flow box to store my scent tubes in one half and we cranks in the other. Once they are dry I put them back in the box I pulled them out of. So far I really like the Edge jig box, don’t store jigs with trailers in there. 1 Quote

Doesn't take much getting inside the box to really mess things up fast if you don't catch it. 1 Quote

Since my bag stays on the deck, I don’t take it out on rainy days and just throw the cranks I want to use for that day in the aerated shoebox and the plastics I am using for the day in a different shoebox. If I ever get a boat with under deck storage I would be lost. Funny story, the one time it poured with my bag on deck, I put my rain coat over the bag and I got soaked. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted November 7, 2020 Super User Posted November 7, 2020 Looks like a good tackle box. I have the regular version of the size 3700 and I am very happy with them. Quote
Bass Junke Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Anybody go on Plano's website and see what they have got coming for 2021? Looks like everything I was hoping for. A 3600 terminal tackle box. ( I can now get my TT in the crate as opposed to bungied to the outside.) A 3500 series size. Build your own edge boxes. Looks like they are going to sell all those little terminal tackle inserts separately. Quote

The 3700 edge flex box is what I’ve been waiting for.. that should really be a standard in the lineup .. 100% customizable. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 10, 2020 Super User Posted November 10, 2020 I have 5 of the Edge boxes now and like them. They do hold less but what they do hold, they hold well. I especially like the jig box. It's the first I have seen that actually holds them in place. The only down side to it is, certain jigs with a high arking hook don't fit well and need to be tilted, taking up two spaces or more. Quote

They seem to be nice boxes, but still too expensive. Only expensive box I will lay down money for is the Plano 4700 double level. They can be had for like 11 bucks and I must have 20-30 of them. Can't imagine the cost of replacing them with Edge boxes. I know that the upper end boxes have a place for some, but unless they come out with a nice lipless box, I will just stick with the Jig box which is very nice:) Quote
