bassbandit2 Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 Going fishing tomorrow and it's been cooler and rainy 30s at night up to 50s during day. This week is starting yesterday it's been in upper 60s. What should I try to throw or just bring everything?? Trying to bring 2-3 baits. Jig, swimbait, trick worm examples. Calling experienced anglers! Thank you!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 4, 2020 Global Moderator Posted November 4, 2020 Just bring your typical fall baits. The warm front will not effect the water temps much from where they are currently. 3 Quote

Super User DitchPanda Posted November 4, 2020 Super User Posted November 4, 2020 Not sure what qualifies as experienced...I've got 20 years of chasing bass 100 to 200 days a year so hope that's sufficient! For me its all about water temps. If yours are in the 50s or above I'd use fluke...spinnerbait...jig. My water temps are in the low to mid 40s...I'm using ned or drop shot, jerk bait, flat sided cranks, small lipless and jigs. 1 Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I’ll bee out night fishing tomorrow and Friday up Here in MA. Saturday and Sunday during the day and probably night It’s been in the 40s And lows in 20s-30s going to be 60s the rest of the week and next week. Night fishing I’m targeting places where there is an inlet. Water flowing into the pond. Wake bait. Go Slow!!!!! During the day. I’m fishing, jerkbaits, Jigs, rattle traps, hair jigs, swimbaits, maybe start Tossing a blade. 1 Quote

TcRoc Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 How did u make out? Last week it was nothing but Ned rig .. today they wanted none of that and it was all spinner and chatter baits. Quote
bassbandit2 Posted November 5, 2020 Author Posted November 5, 2020 I didn't make out lol. I Must have been throwing the wrong lures. I'm headed back out Sunday so maybe I'll try a spinner bait. Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted November 5, 2020 Super User Posted November 5, 2020 I had the wife's Bday last night and stayed back, but my buds were spread out at 3 different lakes. Not a sniff for anyone, but these spots were stocked with trout last week. Stiff competition with real food in bulk under clear skies and a blaring moon is tough sledding. Quote

I'm headed back out Sunday so maybe I'll try a spinner bait. I'm also in Illinois and the two lakes I have fished in the past week are both at about 54-57 degrees. Here's what has worked very well for me the past two trips: -Baitfish are in the backs of coves in 2 to 6ft of water. If I can find a weedline with any green left in it on the bank near the baitfish I am catching multiple fish by running a lipless parallel to the weeds between the vegetation and the shad. The bass come out of the weeds and hit my crank. Caught numerous bass this way. -Pinch points are amazing right now. If I can find a pinch point with baitfish I am staying there and catching bass with a lipless, squarebill, or some luck with a bladed jig. This has put my catch number into the double digits on a lake that 7 or 8 bass is a good day. -Rock or rip rap. For some reason rock/rip rap was a really good all summer long. It continues to be a decent bet. Try something moving and if that doesn't work slow down with a jig or T-rig plastic. Can I make a suggestion to you? I don't mean any disrepect and I'm just trying to help. If you want to catch fish don't ever ask "what should I throw" again until you ask, "where can I find the fish right now"? You can buy the most popular, magic lure in the world but if you are throwing it on a main lake point in 15 feet of water when all the bass are chasing baitfish in the backs of coves you won't have much luck. Meanwhile I have half-a$$ rigged the cheapest Walmart stick worm but I'm in the right place and I'm beating the skunk. Good luck! Quote
bassbandit2 Posted November 5, 2020 Author Posted November 5, 2020 Ok thanks for the tips I appreciate it. I was more along the lines of what others were have success on. But yes I guess I was needing to locate the fish. Today went from 2-330 and didn't see ass much as a bait fish. I was throwing a weighted 3.8 inch paddle tail swimbait and zoom finesse worm. I fish retention ponds and worked shore lines with weeds and out in the middle and all around. Just looking to hook up on a few. Thanks again. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 5, 2020 Super User Posted November 5, 2020 I think @Bluebasser86 hit the nail on the head. If you're lucky, maybe they'll sense a small warm front and bite a little more than usual, but I wouldn't expect anything too different. 1 Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Fished 5p-1a. It was a grind, 2 spots. Couldn’t find any biggons. All small fish biggest just shy of 3. 7 inch slammer, mini slammer and G2 shellcracker got the job done. Got a few crappies on the shell cracker as well. Spot 1 they were all in the inlet area. Spot 2 they were in the coves. Quote

OG Crankster Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Fished a pond today in IL and the only bait they would eat was a lipless. A chrome rippin rap 05 to be exact. Quote
