Not looking for you to giveaway your secret holes in the woods. Live near Candlewood but unfortunately don’t have a boat anymore. Looking for some places to shore fish for bass. Accessible is important, can’t climb down steep terrain, in my 60’s. You can message me if you don’t want to put it out to all.  Like I said, I am in the Danbury Candlewood area.  Looking for next year fishing.  Thanks

I would walk the shore until you find someone with a boat who will let you on..jk, but I always found shore fishing on Candlewood to be difficult given the weedlines grow so far out AND The prime shore fishing areas, as a matter fact the vast majority of shore areas, are privately owned. That being said, if I had to pick one spot open to the public where I would try fishing on shore on Candlewood I would do it at dike point Park. That’s towards the deeper end of the lake, and near a lot of the smallmouth hotspots. You will have access to a good point of the shore, though it gets steep the further you go so it’s a kind of explore situation.

there are good spots in some of the town parks, but generally you have to be a resident of the town. Pre-coronavirus I would say give it a try and if asked to leave you leave, but given the amount of people who been flocking to the town parks this year they were checking IDs and verifying you lived before you’re even able to get in.

I had my best fishing season this year on Candlewood, but that was on a fishing barge, or pontoon.

Lillinonah has a lot of accessible shore spots in the park areas. Old Bridge Park, George Waldo state park ... check google maps. Water levels are way down right now but during spring, summer & fall I see plenty of folks shore fishing.
