I am not a big fan of eating LMB. I will keep crappie a few times a year when fishing with my son to have a nice meal.  The best freshwater fish (in my opinion) is sockeye salmon.  When I lived in Alaska, I would stock up the freezer, have the smoker going all summer, and canned all types of salmon.  As for saltwater, cannot beat mangrove snapper, mahi mahi, or blackfin tuna that is freshly caught. Great, now I am hungry!

I don't eat LM but about every other week I'll keep a 15-18" spotted bass to eat that night or the next.  Spots taste much better than LM to us.

No.  I don't fish for food.  I would if necessary but it isn't so I don't.  I simply don't like killing things.  It's why I don't hunt.  I have no moral issue with either so long as activity is legal.  Knock yourself out if you like it

For good table fare, we have a relative newcomer that is delicious and provides a lot of meat.

I agree freshly caught fish taste better. Mangrove snapper, dolphin, and blackfin tuna are delicious but I prefer hogfish that I catch myself.

Sounds good.  I forgot about hogfish.  Good times when trying to spearfish them.

For me hogfish is by far the best tasting fish I have eaten and the fresher it is the better. I would rate hogfish 10/10, mangrove snapper 8/10, walleye 3/10, and bass 2/10. Worst tasting fish I ate was bowfin.

I used to, but my stomach doesn't tolerate fried food very well these days. I may try it broiled at some point.

I love eating fish, including bass. They arent my favorite, but I catch more of them than other fish, so eat more of them.

I manage the fishing on my small lake so I thin the herd to achieve a better average sized fish.

I prefer salt water fish in general. My son and me especially catch sheepheads, redfish, flounder, and panfish like croakers, spots, and whiting.

In freshwater, I love catfish, bream and bass. I dont catch many Specks ( crappie ) , but they are my least favorite to eat.
When I talk about eating fish, I mean FRIED fish. If I was a condemned man , it would be my last meal!!!

Not in over 30 years. And likely never will again.

Now, big bluegills? Man, it’s tough to beat some fresh bluegills lightly dredged in flour seasoned with salt and pepper sautéed in Keller’s butter and served with a wash of melted butter and a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Yea wrong, fresh water bass like LMB are not commercial fished in California. Sea bass is usually just that some specie of ocean bass, striped or White Sea bass 90% of the time.

Go to any China Town and you will see tanks with LMB in them at every fish seller.

It's a very common dish.

I think crappie is the best tasting fish but bass is number 2. I don't keep many in the last few years, guess I got lazy cleaning them.
