Tried a few ponds a little ways from the house today since my local trip yesterday didn't go well. First spot was much weedier than I thought..did manage 1 decent one on a jerk bait. Ran up the road twenty minutes to another county pond...this one was much cleaner and easier to fish. I got 3 more on the jerk bait and 1 on the Ned. My buddy caught 1 on a flicker shad.

6 total in a few hours may not be on fire but ill take it.

It was a good time. Also considering the cold water temps and the fact that I'm shore bound I'd say it was a surprising success.

I had similar luck on my trip on Saturday. Went out for about three hours and didn't have a bite on a jerkbait, lipless, or Ned rig for about two hours. Moved to a shady, wind-blown bank and tossed my confidence bait - the T-rig - and was able to pull out half a dozen in the next 30-45 minutes. I did not expect them to be in the shade and the ones I caught were VERY cold, but I guess the high wind we had was blowing a lot of food to that bank.

Sweet.  Just had the boat winterized and then we get a week of 70 degree weather.  The first snow put me into winter mode.

Get your sunscreen and flip flops out of storage and it will snow again!

Sounds good to me! Love fishing jerks.

Me too and for some reason I don't do it enough.
