Randy Price Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 I have a few BC and spinning reels that I would like to have professionally disassembled cleaned and lubricated. Who do you guys use? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted October 30, 2020 Super User Posted October 30, 2020 I do all my own maintenance - but if I did send them in to someone - it'd be DVT. Heard nothing but good things about Mike from people here. 1 Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 DVT has done several of mine for me. 2 Quote

OnthePotomac Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 I was blessed 20 years ago when I got into bass fishing that I had a good friend who did it for a living and schooled me on the art of reel cleaning and lube. Sure saved me a ton of money over the years. Thank goodness though that we have DVT on this site for anglers to turn to. Honest and thorough. Quote

People are recommending DVT because of the service. The ADDED BONUS is using a service that helps to keep the lights on in our favorite forum. 3 Quote

There are a few guys here that fix reels to either put food on the table or as a secondary income. We don't step on each other's toes. If anything, we learn from one another. Some of us are more proficient with some reels than others and sometimes we have to turn to our peers for advice. I've picked the brains of some here and have had others pick mine. Reel repair is such a niche occupation that most of us have no trouble getting business. If you do good work, people seek you out. DVT has built himself a stellar reputation due to his quality of work. He would still be successful without sponsorship. When you have passion for what you do, people take notice. 6 Quote

You can never have enough, but I'm sure many of us here sometimes sit and scratch our heads pondering over which rigs to take out on the water. I'm pretty cyclic in my reel buying. I'll buy up a bunch, keep my favorites, sell those that get used the least, buy more, rinse and repeat. I've had a lot of reels pass through my hands, but I usually manage to hang on to about a dozen or so at a time. Now rods, I have enough to build a beaver dam. 2 Quote

I think maybe what I said was taken the wrong way. It just seems rude, well maybe not rude, but at least unappreciative to me to recommend another business in the forum that is sponsored by some one in the same business. It has nothing to do with the quality of the work, a stellar reputation, or DVT's success and passion. Would you go into your local tackle shop and tell people to go elsewhere to do business? It seems like the same thing to me. 17 hours ago, Jaderose said: This site is also sponsored by Sieberts but people recommend other jigs all the time. This forum is sponsored by DVT. DVT is paying for it to exist. It just seems like bad form to hang out here and then send business elsewhere. Obviously I'm a minority on this. 1 Quote

Absolutely will ? If I didn't believe in DVT I would have no issue saying so! I worked part time for Academy & many times sent customers elsewhere right in front of the store manager. He said how could I do that, I replied what for it. Because of my honesty that customer returned & spent more than what he was looking for orginally. Honestly is the best policy! 4 Quote
