So I'm going out tomorrow to my local lake and its been cold. I'm talking like actual cold...couple single digit mornings and even some ice already. Anyhow I've got a lipless, Ned rig, bitsy bug(homemade version thanks Bluebasser) and a small jerk bait. Ill add that I'm fishing from shore. Am I missing anything? I'd guess the water is in the high 30s.

Love the Ned and Bitsy Bug ideas.  That's exactly what I would be carrying.  Let us know how it goes!  Just remember to hold still until you're bored out of your mind and then drag it half an inch...ugh...

I just got back. High was 40 degrees today, with a wicked wind. Just about froze my fingers. Caught a half-dozen bass, two about 3 lbs. Guy about 200 feet north of me was using a bobber and worm for bluegill, but was irritated because all he was catching was bass. I saw him pull  in 12 or 15, and he said he had caught 25 to 30 this PM. So you can laugh if you want to, but I was envious.

BTW .... I caught mine on a 1 ounce Dardevle, a 3/4 Silver Minnow and a silver Mepps Aglia Long. Tried a jerkbait, a white spinnerbait, a pink spinner and an orange spoon. Not even a hit. Figure that one out!    jj

I wasn't laughing as if I thought it wasn't productive...I just don't target bass with live bait. Nothing wrong with doing it...just not my style.

Sounds to me like you did well.  I spent all day fishing from my kayak in a lake with no other fisherman.  Water temp was 78 degrees sunny with light wind.  All I caught in 12 hours of fishing was two bass, with the biggest about 3.5 pounds.  You caught more fish than me, and I was fishing a Mexican bass lake in ideal conditions.  Good job.

Let me know how you do, @DitchPanda. I'll be out tomorrow for a late morning/early afternoon session. I plan on trying a white fluke, hard jerk, small jig, and probably some sort of T-rig. Maybe I need to include a moving bait, I just don't think they'll be that active. But tomorrow is going to be pretty warm. Like 60 degrees warm. So, maybe slow rolling a moving bait like a lipless or chatter bait would work...I don't know.

Yep I plan on posting here my results. My local water temps are high 30s so I don't have high expectations. But ill give it hell... Ain't gonna catch em on the couch.

Small swimbaits, 3" EasyShiner on an Owner 1/16 #1 Darter head.  Ball head will work as well.

DS a 2" gulp minnow around bridge pilings or spillways

If you cant get bit with either of them go to the ultimate fail safe...A half stick of dynamite

Well I missed a bite on a shaky head and that's it. Found a spot from shore I could reach deep brush drug shaky, Ned and finesse jig through it without a touch. I have a tiny pond about 25 minutes from my house I rarely get skunked at that ill try tomorrow. If that doesn't work..then I don't know!
