I am in the market for an aluminum bass boat with a 25 horse motor on it. Right now my #1 choice is the BassTracker Pro Team 170 TX with a 25 Mercury, however I have also looked at the Pro 16 with a 25 Merc.

I'm not wanting to spend over $12,000 and want at least a 16 foot boat. What other brands/models are available in this price range that some of you would suggest?

Might be a little more but G3 is a much better boat than a Tracker.

I have had Trackers but since buying a G3, will never go back.

JMHO.

If you plan on keeping it for many years, get one with no wood in the floor or decks. You will find several mfg. that use it, including some mentioned.

I have a 2005 tracker PT175 with a Merc 25hp 2 stroke and its a great boat. (no wood). fishes great also easy to tow. I would go with the PT 170 over the P16. the 16 has a different hull. I know the 17 has the "revolution hull" the same as my 175 and it rides nice. really nice. the  Pro 16 is based on a jon ( flat bottom) hull. also the pt170 is only a few inches longer, but over 11 inches wider. that will make the 170 feel alot bigger that the 16. I did not like trackers, but I only had fished out of older ones. Then in 2005 I went half with my father-in-law on this boat. I was a bit concerned about it, but after getting it. I made a good choice. Infact a few guys I fish with ( in my club and not) that weren't really happy with trackers in the past. Like this boat alot. two even have bought them

I say Bass Tracker all the way. I just bought a 1997 Pro team 18 (factory dual console) with a 40hp force and love it. Plenty of room to fish and fishes great. Can't go wrong with tracker marine. Great resale value to if you decide to sell it later.
