I have a question about A Rigs. I live in Indiana where we can legally only have 3 hooks on an A rig but as many attractors (spinners, hookless heads) and im wondering if it is better to use a 3-arm A rig or a 5-arm A rig with 2 hookless dummy swimbaits.

Any answers are welcome and much appreciated.  Thanks for your time.

You can go many ways.  My least favorite is the 3 wire.  I like putting willow leaf blades on the top 2 wires.  One of the guys who fishes with me uses the two hookless baits.  You just have to decide what you want and give it a try.

He responds to people's questions when he can. He's also a full time touring pro with a lot of responsibilities to keep up with while trying to make his living so he doesn't always have time to sit down and answer everyone's questions. We've had a couple other pros do a little posting on the forum, James has been the most interactive one I can remember and I personally feel we're very lucky to have someone in his position here at whatever level he can be.

Hey Ryan, I apologize for the delay in response to your question.  First I will say that I don't have a tremendous amount of experience with the A-Rig because most tournaments I compete in do not allow them in competition.  What I have experienced is both work and if you have confidence in one over the other than go with the one that you have most confidence in.  It is my personal opinion that what makes it so effective is the multitude of baits that imitates a school of baitfish so well, so while the 3 hook is just fine I would certainly consider the 5 bait with additional  hookless offerings to be most effective.  Hope that helps!
