Ogandrews Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Thought I’d put out a little review and see what everyone else thinks of the reel. I got mine a couple weeks ago and paired it up with a Shimano expride 6’10” medium with 30lbs maxcuatro braid to a 8-12lbs leader. First trip with it I went for smallmouth I threw micro keitech football jigs, midsized jerkbaits, 4” keitech easy shines on an 1/8th oz head and a 2.5” tube 1/8th oz head. It handled the small baits super well and still cast them really well. Used it a couple times now to throw small 2.5-3” jerkbaits in the 1/4 oz range for brown trout in streams and again it cast them amazingly well for a baitcaster. The reel has such a comfortable feel in the hand and is one of the easiest to use reels I’ve ever had. Definitely a big step up from the curado 70 in my opinion, you can notice the different gears and upgraded spool right away especially with light baits. Feels just like an really light version of the curado K which is exactly what I was hoping for. Anyone else have a chance to try these out yet? I couldn’t be happier with mine 3 Quote

I couldn’t be happier with mine I’ve been using mine with similar lures and very much enjoyed it so far. I’ve got some high quality spinning reels but this is my first nicer baitcast. So far I’m very impressed and not having much trouble dialing in the adjustments. It’s very comfortable and the smaller frame is so nice. It really feels like it has more than enough line on it too. Good reel. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted October 27, 2020 Super User Posted October 27, 2020 Thanks, even though I set myself up to buy one when the 70MGL available, sold one of regular 70 to make some room, but I still haven’t yet pulled the trigger. Don’t know why. Quote
TBAG Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I'm going to be getting a few when the BF sales happen. Thanks for the review. Quote

waymont Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 What will the difference be between the Scorpion and K 70 reels? Quote

TBAG Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I took advantage of the sale and ordered one yesterday. I got the XG and will be pairing it with a NRX 853c and using it for light jigs, and texas rigs. I currently have a Curado K on that rod and I wanted something smaller and lighter. Can't wait to see how this combo works out! Quote
OnthePotomac Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I received my Scorpion 19 (MGL)150 HG about three weeks ago and it is one sweet reel. Completely salt water safe and a little smaller than a Curado 200K as a 150 size and very comfortable in my hand. It holds 120yds of 14 lb, so plenty of line. I spooled mine with 12lb Invizx(.011) and tested it standing on the bank of a small lake near me throwing a Senko and it handled it very well. Quote
