Mr. Twister has always made a good line of soft plastic baits. I don't see a lot of talk about them here on BR. This season, we did well on the 6" Phenom in grape and motoroil. The Sassy Shad is still a good one also, rigged on a good ball head jig. It catches not only bass, but multiple species of fish. In the 2020 catalog, they have a 4" ringworm, which looks good, and some other newer stuff. Mr. Twister has been around since the 1970s. Is anyone still using Mr. Twister product? I still think they make some very good soft plastics.

in the 70s is when i was a punk and went fishing with growmups and they gave me the old reliable black mister twister and just hooked it on a plain hook and dropped it over the side and jigged it and i caught walleye on it. Now today i still carry the original black and also silver and use it for crappie and sometimes a trailer on a jig or spinner if i dont want to waist the more expensive and bigger plastics.

I agree that they do but with the gamefish grab bag gone its unlikely I'll order from them again unless it comes back.

Their problem was making that deal too good ... $8.95 for 75 soft plastics

Unless that comes back, I will stick with the "originals" vs the mister twister imitations.

I use to fish a lot of Mr. Twister back when I was younger. Than I primarily fished the Silk Worm 4.0 and the Exude Finesse Worm. Good stuff on the river. Then they stopped handling them and I gave up on them. If they quit, I’ll quit. I still have some of both. Not sure where that company is going these days.

I have used a lot of Mister Twister products over the years .I havent recently because I ran out and have so many plastics , that I need to try to use them up .

I still have a Mister Twister spinnerbait . It has a three way swivel on it with two blades side by side . Thats the only spinnerbait I ever seen like it . It pulls hard . I also had some MisterTwister buzzbaits .

I use their 3 inch curly tail grubs, but I've had way more success on 3 inch powergrubs. They still work pretty good though, I want to try their 4 inch ringworms and their 6 inch worms.

The 2" sassy shad on an 1/8 jig head will catch just about anything.

I use to troll with one across the mouth of a creek arm . It was rare to make  it all the way across without catching something .

I asked the manager of a local tackle shop why he didn't have a greater variety of Mr.Twister baits and I showed him some of the baits & colors that I wished he would carry.  He empathized with me, then talked about how as an independent tackle shop - Mr. Twister was a challenge to deal with.  He said that they were really in the business of selling electric fillet knives and that they would sell you so much soft plastic product IF you bought x amount of electric fillet knives.

If you just wanted to buy just soft plastic product, then the prices were higher and if you wanted to make x amount of money per unit the math didn't work.  He didn't go into great detail about it but just said that other soft plastic companies were easier to deal with.  So that's the main reason that I don't fish much Mr Twister product, i.e. it isn't readily available in the tackle shops I frequent.

@Fishes in trees Many companies that were started by anglers that loved fishing are now owned by conglomerates that are only interested in money.

I cant hear Mr. Twister without thinking about my dad.

All it seemed like he used to throw was the black with firetail.

Which has now led me to a few Christmas gift ideas. Thanks @Mobasser

Catt, I ordered two bags of Mag 12" Buzz worms earlier this year. I had planned on using them at night, but didn't get to go night fishing as much as I had planned this summer. I'll have them ready for next season. Looks like a good one.

I just order direct from Mr Twister. I think they make a great electric fillet knife. I've used mine to fillet crappies, and the occasional bass I keep. It's true most of the shops stock all the newest baits, because those are what sell. They may or may not be the best. It's all opinion. I like Mr. Twister stuff, especially the 6" Phenom worm. One of the old favourites.

It's worth checking in regularly on the Mister Twister catalog online. They continue to offer new baits with some frequency, along with the old stand-bys like the Phenom worm, curly-tail and Sassy Shad. The regular prices online are pretty good, and you can find good deals sometimes in their bargain bin.

The 3" Meeny curly tail on a 1/8oz jighead was the first artificial lure I learned to catch fish on as a kid. These days I use the Phenom Worm and Lizard the most.

But my favorite is the Thunderworm, which has been discontinued & resurrected a few times. They don't have it currently, but I stocked up a few years ago.

They use to have a ribbon tail worm that was called “Bandit” or something like that. Green caterpillar color was pretty decent.

I wish ole Mr. Twister the best. They are like a classic to fishing. But sometimes companies don’t change and become complacent in their own little world in the market. But Try to maintain some type of edge. There are a few others as well. I do not want to dis any of these companies because I’ve successfully used their stuff.

I still like their "keeper" hooks for fishing Texas rigs, especially with thinner plastics like Robo worms.  It doesn't tear up the nose as fast, making the worm last longer and you really can't misalign it when rigging.

My first bass was on a Mister Twister worm, a bright red original.  My favorite Mister Twister worm is also discontinued, their Slither worm.  The tail section continued up the back of the worm, almost like a dorsal fin, so the tail would have its action and the worm itself would have another, more subtle action.  I'd buy them if they'd make them.

An interesting current product they have is their Poc'it Fry stick worm.  I don't fish it like a Senko, rather I tear them in half and use them on a Ned rig.  They aren't as buoyant as ZMan products, but they have that similar bulk and the air pockets give a different look without changing the subtle presentation.

I bought a ton of sassy shads nearly 20 years ago Im down to my last dozen.  The only 3" pogy/shad bodies the local tackle stores had was Mr Twister.  When you went up to baits over 3" there were more options.  I really only use them when im striper fishing and there are lots of blues around.
