Johnpenguin Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Something is wrong with my drag (and no it isn’t my line slipping). I have a shimano Antares, which is no beginner type reel. I have loved this reel so far and have never had a problem. I had it serviced almost a year ago, so I’m confused. Any advice on how I can fix it? I’m not going to take it apart again because I got in trouble with shimano the last time. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted October 26, 2020 Super User Posted October 26, 2020 Call Shimano in California to discuss the problem. It probably needs to be sent in. https://fish.shimano.com/content/dam/shimanosnaffish/pdf/US Reel Repair Form 2019.pdf 1 Quote

I refuse to do that right now. Quote

Super User JustJames Posted October 26, 2020 Super User Posted October 26, 2020 So the drag being pull out not smooth? Or slip like no drag at all? But no matter what, if you refuse to open up your reel, the only way to send it in. I’m not gonna fish with bad drag, you might loose a fish of your life time. Quote

If the nut on the handle comes loose, there is a thin lip that fits over the drive shaft (might be part of the drag clicker), it can make it feel tight when turned but be slightly loose side to side> this will loosen the tension on the drag. When working on mine, I have not held the handle tight enough to the reel when putting it back together a few times causing this to happen. It could also be the drag washers are shot. In this case flip them over, run them dry until you get new ones. Quote

Drag stack just needed to be cleaned and regreesed. 1 Quote
