I would say i'm a moderate to advanced fisherman. I really want to get the shimano stradic CI4+ FB because i've heard really good things about it. The main type of fishing I do is find random ponds around me and use light texas rigs, wacky rigs, ned rigs, spinner baits, I don't use lures much bc there's a lot of grass in the ponds I fish. I live in south carolina. Bass pro shops is having a sale on the reel right now 1000-4000 range models, my question is which one should I choose for my type of fishing I do. And also what kind of rod would be good to go with it in the 100-200$ range?

The 2500 is a great do it MOST size. Picked up a  St. Croix Mojo Bass 7'1" Med and it's a lovely pair.

I'd opt for the 3000 just because of the T-handle. Reel is the same as 2500 just deeper spool. BTW welcome.

So you have both 2500 and 3000, can you PM me picture of both spool in comparison? I’ve been suspected the same while I’m researching about 1000 vs 2000 size Vanford. This is totally different than Daiwa where spool on 2000 is bigger than 1000.

I have 2500 on all my spinning reels.  No problems.

I also went with the 3000 just for the T-handle. But that is just a personal preference. If I were using it for chunk and wind techniques, I may have just went with the 2500 with regular paddle style knob.

What is the advantages of the t-handle?

I just like it better for the technique I use it for. I always keep my hand on the knob when dropshotting or fishing a ned rig on a spinning setup and I feel like I have a little bit more control (maybe leverage) with more knob to work with.

Then again, it could just be in my head. :)

2500 would be my choice. I'm not a fan of the t-handles at all. The 3000 and 2500 have the same size body, but the 3000 comes with a deeper spool, so more line capacity. The capacity really isn't needed for bass fishing but it may be something to consider if you ever want to use it for inshore species. Some believe that the deeper spool has another advantage in that  a larger spool reduces line twists. I find this to be a non-factor when using braid. Here are some other threads you may wanna check out; not all are specifically about the Stradic but the same arguments apply with regards to 2500 vs 3000.

I have both sizes of the OG CI4.  The 3000 gets used for larger species as well as bass fishing.  They are both spooled with 6# Tatsu, and neither experiences any difference in line twist.

What would be a good rod for the 3000 for all around pond use stuff like light texas rigs, wacky rigs, ned rigs, spinner baits, lipless cranks.

Those are a pretty diverse range of techniques. M/F would be your best bet, maybe even MH/F.

I have 6 Stradic Ci4+'s (4 -2500's and 2-3000).  One of them has the older style larger foam "knob".  I do not really like it as well as the never style so I've noticed I do not use that reel as much.  I could buy a new style to put on it but I think they are around $ 30.00.

Spools are exact same diameter. I swap them between reels.
