Nasty fall algae bloom

Yeah so my favorite lake/retention pond here in NJ got heavy rain a couple days ago and now this nasty algae bloom from the runoff has pretty much taken over, the lake is a max depth of 7 feet and little to no cover. Bottom contour is muddy with some scattered rocks and grass. Anyway this stuff has pretty much taken over the shoreline and expands about 2 to 3 feet out with it not being near any of the fountains. 

 

Water temps are 65 degrees and I don't know what to throw, in the summer time I made a similar thread but I still caught fish during this while using traditional dirty water baits. Now all the dirty water baits are now working, they won't even bite senkos. Any advice?

I'm in South Jersey and I'm finding similar conditions. My lake temp yesterday was 67.5 I've had lots of luck with suspending jerkbaits, specifically rip stops. Getting incredible reaction strikes. If the jerk stop n go doesn't work I begin cranking it and hit em that way. I've found the big girls on the windward side of the lake but also up at the feeder stream. I think the bait fish are just going back and forth as the temps fluctuate. Just my 2¢.

Would jerkbaits even work in these algae blooms?

I actually abandoned a local lake because of the algae bloom, deemed it un-fishable. 

Moved to a different lake today and could throw anything I felt like.

Usually that algae is only in the top foot or so of water and it's clear under it.  Fish don't seem to mind when it takes over my in-laws pond every spring.

Like mogo1973 mentioned, yes since it's awesome cover.  If it's only spotty, like on the windward side, it's a simple long toss into clear then underneath the algae is clear. The no comes in if I catch a bit of algae on the line-lure connection if it lands in the gunk, then the action gets fouled.  But, yeah, it works, it catches, and it does require frequent cleanings if I'm pulling the lure out of the water through the algae.
