Southcoast Bassin Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hello could someone lead me in the right direction please ? I am looking for someone to paint my Silver Shimano Metaniums . I would like to have them painted matte black or semi w/very little gloss. One solid color. Can you recommend someone? Quote
DomQ Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Know anyone that paints at a body shop? Your going to want to break the reel down completely first though and remove all the parts and tape it up. Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 I was looking for more of a specialty shop... There are guys that specifically paint reels. Most do crazy custom work... This would just be one color so I’m thinking that it would be easier for them to do ? Quote

Super User JustJames Posted October 16, 2020 Super User Posted October 16, 2020 Too bad, I know a guy that only do Daiwa not shimano. This is a thing for those Daiwa fanboys anyway, not so much with Shimano. ?? get SLX and you have matted black shimano ?? No matter what are you gonna do with shimano, please don’t do this. This curado 70 MGL will never look the same. 1 Quote

It needs to be done by someone that knows what they're doing specifically with reels. A precision machined casting cant just be painted. There are many fitment issues that need to be understood beforehand. 1 Quote

Uknowme Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 I had a Daiwa SV103XS cerakoted white with black accents. Most gun shops can do reels. I picked a place that was cheap but local. It was their first reel. Be very specific about what should and should not be painted. Look around though. Some people that do reels specifically charge a lot for it. I mean more than what the reel is worth. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted October 17, 2020 Super User Posted October 17, 2020 Message "@rembrandtreels" on Instagram. He isn't cheap but his work is impeccable. For high quality, non rattlecan work, you're going to be paying a premium. Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 Oh excellent! Thanks for the lead ..? Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 Wow !!! This is EXACTLY The answer !!! He actually has examples of Metanium’s done ... Thanks so much ??? Quote
jbrew73 Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Do you think chipping will still be an issue if the base paint is still on the reel? Quote
Southcoast Bassin Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 That’s a great question... gonna try and find out Quote
