It's very cold, and even just going out to the mailbox with that wind blowing was NOT fun. my wife today shoveled the 1/2 inch dusting we got in fargo nd overnight. She asked me why us northerners always complain about the cold when we should be used to it. This is her 2nd winter in the usa. 2 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 25, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 25, 2020 Took a walk around the neighborhood after we made it home, several spinouts along the drive and two more on the 1 mile walk. Saw 3 transformers blow, like green Christmas fireworks. Several power lines swinging low. The Honda Fit with front wheel drive performed well 3 1 Quote

We are like kids in candy stores taking pictures of everything . Even the Ohio girl is excited 2 1 Quote

Luckily I bought the house (new) I currently live in 2012 when home prices were near the bottom and interest rates were low. I believe I can sell my house for a massive profit when I decide to sell it but I’m likely going to overpay for another one too. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 26, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 26, 2020 Day 2: still six inches of snow on the ground......... I’ve looked out all the windows hundreds of times, still looks the same......... I shoveled the driveway and walked to the store and walked to the rock climbing wall behind the house............. I don’t know how you folks do it! Hahahahah! I’m feeling like Jack Nicholson in the shining and we aren’t 48 hours in yet. I’m hoping the roads melt a bit and I can do some bank fishing somewhere today. I could actually walk to the river if I must (it feels so weird not waking up and driving somewhere) Quote

I could actually walk to the river if I must (it feels so weird not waking up and driving somewhere) We often need to excavate paths back & forth to the kennel and most everywhere we need to get. In the long run it saves a ton of time, otherwise it seems to take forever getting around back there. Used to shovel it by hand until we got a machine that could handle the load. Now it's a routinely deal. A-Jay 2 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted December 26, 2020 Super User Posted December 26, 2020 High temp on Christmas day was 18 with a wind chill near 0 making this the 4th coldest Christmas day on record. Also have about 2" of snow on the ground. I wish you northern guys would keep you lousy cold snowy weather up north. P.S. Looks like @A-Jay needs to come down here and get the snow he is missing. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 26, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 26, 2020 @A-Jay, that looks pretty fun! I think I would shatter my neighbors windows if I had that! I do have a 13hp Honda clone for my shallow water boat, sounds eerily similar to your snowblower. I’m very familiar with the sound driving 10 mph up river 10 miles with nothing but that to listen to haha. (I can go a breakneck 14 mph back downstream though!) 2 Quote

And you can't tell, but I'm rocking out under that bomber hat (ear buds). I believe that day it was a Led Zeppelin Medley. #dazedandconfused A-Jay 1 Quote

Michigander Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 We only have an adorable amount of snow so far in central Michigan. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 30, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 30, 2020 The wife woke me up at 5:30 asking where the shovel was because we got a fluffy 5” of snow and the Pugs wouldn’t leave the front porch. So up I got to shovel a landing pad for Pug poop. I guess I got a nice early morning workout in. We’re supposed to get another 1-2” of snow with a mix of rain throughout the day. Next week we’re looking at a possibility of mid to upper 40’s. 1 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted December 31, 2020 Super User Posted December 31, 2020 So far we have avoided snow this year. We are supposed to get freezing rain starting this evening. Not good for New Year's Eve. Glad I'm staying in tonight. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 2, 2021 Global Moderator Posted January 2, 2021 Well we got a little freezing drizzle yesterday and before we went to bed the weatherman said we were supposed to get 1” of snow. Woke up this morning to 5-6” of fresh snow. Great job weatherman! ?? Quote

Reminds me of Halloween '91 Initial forecast, two days before it arrived - 3"-8" Revised the next day, day before it started - 5"-11" Third day, couple hours after it started - 8"-14" Fourth day, morning after it started - we got no idea how much we're going to get Ended up getting 28" in the metro, 37" in Duluth...in 3.5 days (Oct 31-Nov 3) 1 Quote
