Michigander Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Had about half an inch this morning, so nothing crazy. But it's definitely early winter. Quote

Now we're having 30s and 40s during the day without a flake in sight for the next week. 1 Quote

Well, the Army can't help you now. Best to lock the doors and windows and wait it out in the basement. ? Thankfully it will be back to the upper 30s this weekend so I won't totally freeze my caboose off on the kayak. 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 1, 2020 Super User Posted December 1, 2020 No snow, but 25* tonight. Way too cold for this Rebel. Quote

Suppose to get down to 15 tonight. 15 is in the “too cold” category for me. I’ll fish until about 26-28. After that the guides freeze over. And I sure as heck ain’t fishing in the dark below freezing. i remember fishing when it was 13 once. Catch a trout and throw it on dry land, they were frozen solid pretty quick. I probably won’t ever do that again but I’ve fished beautiful sunny 70 degree days and got skunked so it beat that!!! Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 1, 2020 Author Super User Posted December 1, 2020 Pack the boats up, boys and girls. Just got back from an errand and Cooks Bay on Minnetonka is socked in. I wouldn't want to try and walk on it yet, but at least 90% is ice-covered. Emerald Lake and what I could see of Seton Lake were also solid. Boating season on 'Tonka is now over until at least April...unless we have a REAL early ice-out. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 1, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 1, 2020 Here’s the grizzly scene in my front yard ............. A view of the dry valley against the snowy mountains And some bucks my fiancé photographed in the smokies today 2 1 Quote

Funny you say this. Years ago I was in Nashville for a consumer electronics show and it snowed 2-3”. Nashville was shut down, but those of us from the NE were the only ones out and about. As long as I can get open water, I’m in! Quote

Wouldn't be the first time I've broken ice with my kayak.... Also, if it's just a thin skin, you're in prime ice punching time. 3oz weight and a metal marlin leader. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 2, 2020 Had some skim ice on the pond in front of work when I left this morning, most of it was gone when I came in tonight. Not ready for it but at the same time we haven't had a good freeze over on the lakes for several years and I think it does them some good to let them settle and clear up a little bit so they're clear in the spring like they're supposed to be instead of stained from the howling winter winds constantly stirring them. 1 Quote

I'd rather be on my couch watching Elite series reruns. Or practicing my pitching accuracy in the snow in the backyard. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted December 2, 2020 Super User Posted December 2, 2020 Crazy weather. It was unseasonably warm yesterday with a high of 52 degrees. Today it was windy, cold and snow showers all day. Nothing that stuck though thankfully. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 3, 2020 Author Super User Posted December 3, 2020 People in Ely - northern MN near the Canadian border - are already doing some bang-up ice fishing. 1 Quote
