Super User Mobasser Posted February 18, 2021 Super User Posted February 18, 2021 I know one thing for sure. If you're a service plumber, you'll probably start getting very busy soon. Once the pipes thaw out many will break open. Plumbers will be in demand. We made it to 24 degrees today. Felt like t shirt weather compared to this past week. 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted February 22, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2021 Supposed to get one inch over night......we ended up with 4. ? Quote

Super User gim Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 It may reach 40 here in the north today. Whole lotta melting going on. And I don't see anything lower than about 30 in the 7 day forecast either. Even if the temperature is below freezing, the sun is starting to get quite powerful. Quote

Super User jimmyjoe Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 I found open water!!!!!!!! ? It's 38 degrees, and the open water is just a pumper on the Mississippi, and it's only half- thawed. BUT I DON'T CARE! I'm going fishing, whether I catch fish or not! Yaaaay !!! jj Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 We were supposed to get 1-2 inches in Nebraska yesterday...ended up with around 8! Heavy, wet snow. It's 41 degrees and sunny right now...melting!!! : ) Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 It seems this Winter has been much colder compared to the Winters in the last 10 years at least in Florida and many other places in the country. It even snowed heavily in many parts of Texas which is impressive since those parts of Texas are known for +100 degree temperatures in the Summer. Quote

Ironically we’ve had a very mild winter while the rest of the country has been cold. We get strange weather, had more snow than normal but never got much below 20 degrees . Usually we have some single digits and occasionally 0 Quote

This Winter I have seen the most Tennessee license plates in all the Winters I have fished. You would think the weather must be bad in many parts of Tennessee for so many of them to make the +10 hour drive to be in South Florida this Winter. I read that many parts of Tennessee had one of the worst Winters in many years so you must live somewhere it did not snow as much. Quote

We had a good bit of snow on Christmas but completely missed the last round. We’ve had a decent amount of snows for the winter but not super cold temps. I live in East TN near the smokies 1 Quote

The Smoky Mountains is a beautiful place with good fishing. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted February 23, 2021 Super User Posted February 23, 2021 I don't even think it dropped below freezing here last night. It was still dripping off the roof when I got up this morning to let the dog out. Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted February 23, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 23, 2021 37 and sunny, I’m loving it. It’s breezy out but not the warm breeze we need to really ramp up the melting, but I’ll take what we get right now. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted February 23, 2021 Super User Posted February 23, 2021 43 here this afternoon. Got a bit of a melt started... 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 23, 2021 Super User Posted February 23, 2021 Despite a bit of sunshine & temps in the low 30's Accumulating snow is expected across most of northern Michigan tonight into early Wednesday afternoon. The best chance for heaviest accumulations will be mostly right over A-Jay's house. Wet snow combined with reduced visibility will lead to hazardous travel at times, but I'm not going anywhere. huZZah Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Last week it was 10 with wind chill of -10 all week. Frozen solid. Today it’s 80. While driving between schools for work today I pass Ed the lake near my house and saw all these people out fishing. Saw a guy pulling a decent fish out right as I looked longingly at the water. Sigh Quote

We have quite a ways to go before open water, but we’re heading in the right direction. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 24, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 24, 2021 70 degrees here today. Buddy of mine went to the power plant lake for a few hours. Said there was 20 boats there on a Tuesday afternoon. The lower end was still iced up when he left despite the temps and warm water (42* at the edge of the ice). I'm hoping against the odds that a small lake will open up by the weekend. I want to get out bad but 60* on Saturday will have 100 boats on that lake and I just don't think I'm up for that. Quote

Super User Bird Posted February 24, 2021 Super User Posted February 24, 2021 The older I get the more I detest winter. We've had snow covering the ground now for over 6 weeks here in the mountains of VA. BUT a real shocker today......64.2* Quote
Way north bass guy Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 I’d like to feel bad for all you southern guys that haven’t had the best bass fishing weather the last few weeks, but I just spent 3 hours this afternoon snow blowing my house and shop driveway, and I also shovelled 2’ of snow off my boat shed roof. Guess it’s gonna be a bit longer before I’m boating anywhere 3 Quote
