Well you gotta get some snow piles before it’s all over! A lot of times our coldest weather is in March, our “blizzard of ‘93” was late March when we got 2 ft of snow

Freezing Rain, snow, sleet throughout the day today and less than an inch of snow for us tonight.

Hey, we’re half way through January already!

We've got the loud snow coming down right now. Not quite hail, it's having trouble accumulating though.

33.4” below normal for snowfall this year (since Nov 1)

We’ve had 29% available sunlight (up 3% from average)

Average temp is 4.3* warmer than average

All in all not a terrible winter so far, hopefully this means an early ice out.

Does that mean you will be blessed with lots of cold and snow all through March?

Blessed? Not sure that is the right word to describe it, but it’s certainly possible. As of right now there is another thaw coming by weeks end above freezing. I’m cautiously optimistic that we won’t be having any April blizzards this spring.

30s next week according to long-range forecast. Maybe we'll have ice out earlier than average...which means I need to book-butt - after my surgery recovery that is (hernia repair this Friday...been through it before on the other side...it's nothing big).

We got about 6 inches of snow in about as many hours. Thankfully it was lite and fluffy so it was pretty easy cleaning up. The snow plows were on top of it too. Only about an inch had fallen by the time I dropped 6poundbass off at school and 7.5 hours later they were slick but nothing horrible.

So there ya go southern boys, 6 inches of snow and schools weren’t even canceled (some around were but majority stayed open).

Finally had our first decent storm of the season with 8" Sunday night/Monday.

Big storm coming in tonight with local blizzard warnings of 8-12" of snow and 40+ mph winds with 5-8ft of snow expected in the higher elevations. Hopefully this will be the end of the drought conditions.

Luckily the big weekend snow storm is passing south of us.

For only the third time in over 150 years of keeping record, the Twin Cities will not record a single night below zero in the month of January. The closest was on Jan 1, when we woke up to 2 degrees.

I saw that. Bush league.

Hopefully it is short lived. It’s gonna be in the 30’s all week until this cold snap comes.

I’m still optimistic about an early spring.
