Super User BrianMDTX Posted October 12, 2020 Super User Posted October 12, 2020 Umm-m-m...my PB this year (and all-time) was caught on a Eagle Claw #6 baitholder hook with 1/2 a nightcrawler and a bobber. Between 6 & 7 lbs. As far as lures, it would be a 4.5 lb largemouth on a 5” watermelon with copper and orange with red flake Senko on a 1/0 Gamakutsu circle octopus hook. 2 Quote
JS Patterson Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 My top 3 this year so far have came on a Ned rig. 7-6, 7-4 yesterday, and a 6-4. Other than those, I did well during the post spawn with a shallow shad rap getting some 5s. Last year it was a jig though. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 12, 2020 Global Moderator Posted October 12, 2020 My 2 biggest largemouth this year have both been on a Ned rig. One on a Hot Craw Big TRD, the other on a 10,000 Fish Sukoshi Bug. They were within a few tenths of a ounce of each other. My biggest smallmouth was a swinging football head and a Rage Menace. 3 Quote
txchaser Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Biggest this year was my PB (11 1/2) on a 6th sense flatside (75x) fishing it pretty slow. Second was around 8.5 (batteries in scale died, just measured and eyeballed, was around the size of my PB2 which was that weight) on a 3.8" Keitech Fat in bluegill flash with a dipped tail, put on an owner colorado underspin, fishing it a bit like a toad in the weeds, but subsurface in the holes. Slurped it right as it was about to go back up on the mat. It was a little stressful with a big fish in that much weeds, but I managed to keep her up high in the water column so steady pressure broke the weeds a little at a time. No real way to get the boat in there. Luckly, but lesson learned. Both on -very- windy days. 1 Quote

I haven't had a ton of luck on white craws or beavers unless it was a trailer on moving or reaction bait. I know a local hear that throws alot of creatures, and craws in white especially on overcast days and he swears by them. I've been with him punching mats in late August and he took me to the wood shed flipping a white creature bait. 1 Quote

Seems like the thicker the mat the white doesn’t work as well, don’t really know why but I have my suspicions. Over the years I’ve gone through 1/2 doz or so different colors, but the white in the 2 plastics I use the most for those presentations (Sweet Beaver or the Bug) out fishes them all regardless of conditions. Cdn Angler Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Canadian for reference: 6.2 LMB - Duo Realis Rozante Jerkbait in Perch 5.1 LMB - 75 Whopper Plopper 4.8 LMB - Keitech Crazy Flapper The last two were in super shallow and both times the fish beelined from like 10 feet away to destroy the bait, with a big wake and everything. Super cool. 1 Quote
