OnthePotomac Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Had the cath...not good. He took pictures and stopped. Too big a mess. Heart surgeon is reviewing pics and says open heart surgery too risky and suggests a stint to give me some quality of life. Now I wait and "don't push too hard for the time being". 86th BDay is the 10th and by gosh i will eat cake lol. I'll make it fine. 11 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted October 8, 2020 Super User Posted October 8, 2020 I am surprised they didnt do the stint while they were in there........That sucks! The good thing is that the stint can usually be placed through the arm or groin. Heck, I had a valve replaced that way. The next good thing is that you feel better almost immediately. You got this! 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Good point on the stint during the cath and the cath doc said he did not feel comfortable attempting that right then in view of my age and the problems he was looking at. He went up through the wrist. I now have three cardiac surgeons studying the pics and as of yesterday were agreeing to go with the stint. Should hear within a couple of days. 2 Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted October 8, 2020 Super User Posted October 8, 2020 I have five stents. One is inside another one. That one took two cardio docs; one going through the femoral artery on each leg, five hours to complete. The other four took about 45 minutes each. I was awake for one procedure, and the doc angled a monitor so I could see the arteries, snd the catheters going through them. Way cool to observe. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Wow! Mine should be easy peasy. Quote

OnthePotomac Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 Thank you. Going to be a quiet day with our daughter grilling a steak for us with a big chocolate cake. I may be forced to have a glass of red wine. LOL 2 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 Finally. Got the call yesterday late and going in for stint placement on Friday, 16th at 0700. My heart cath doc will be assisted by a "high risk stint placement" expert doc and kept over night. Sure glad to get 'R' done. 2 Quote
