livemusic Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I need a boat cover for a 1997 bass tracker pro team 17, a 17' aluminum tracker with 40hp Tracker (Mercury) motor. I don't want to spend a lot because so many covers are really expensive and I will likely sell this boat next spring. I am spoiled from buying a Cabelas brand cover for my 19' fiberglass bassboat that is awesome and I only paid $150 for it last year when it went on closeout! It has worked great. For the Bass tracker pro team 17, any ideas? I would like to buy right now if possible. I found one that *might* fit and it's only $129 but for all I know, it might be garbage. We get heavy winter rains and this boat will be outside. I just want a cover to keep leaves and rain out; this boat is no showpiece but it's in pretty darn good condition other than a soiled carpet spot. I found one at Basspro but it's $370 on sale and that is just too much. Heck, if would work, I would even consider wrapping a huge tarp around it! EDIT: Boat will be stationary, I won't travel with the cover. Quote
Super User gim Posted October 8, 2020 Super User Posted October 8, 2020 I would think that a heavy duty tarp that is the right size and attached properly will work if you aren't planning to travel with it. Just make sure its on there tight so that when it rains the water is repelled downward to the ground and it doesn't pool up in certain spots. A lot of people up here in the north get their boats "shrink-wrapped" for the winter too. I don't know if that's an option there but it would definitely work. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I bought the less expensive Tracker cover for my ProTeam 175 five years ago and store outdoors, so I have a heavy duty silver tarp bunged over the cover and it has been a perfect fix for rain, hail, snow and ice. The cheapo boat cover still looks new and the boat stays bone dry. Quote
