TriStateBassin106 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Found it on the ground the other day at my lake, hooks were rusted beyond belief and I temporarily replaced them with some KVD elites, what would be some good hooks to actually replace it with? Quote

The KVD's should be fine - though any hooks I have to replace I do so with Owner ST-36. Quote

Probably a Ratlin' Rap 05 - which uses size 6 hooks. Rapalas come with VMC hooks standard (VMC is owned by Rapala) Quote
wisconsin heat Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Agreed, it looks a lot like a ratln rap. Never seen that color before, might be an exclusive somewhere. But I also don't recall ratln raps having gill cut outs before which makes me think it might be some other brand using the same body as a ratln rap. Quote

I have a three trebel size firetiger pattern I have to replace hooks on aswell because pike kept attacking them this spring lol. 2 minutes ago, wisconsin heat said: Agreed, it looks a lot like a ratln rap. Depends on the size of the Husky Jerk - go to Rapala's site, details on the lures give the hook sizes https://www.rapala.com/rapala/lures-by-type/ 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted October 7, 2020 Super User Posted October 7, 2020 I’m going with generic knockoff - the hook hangers look all wrong to me. Should still be able to match hook sizes with the same size Rapala though. 5 Quote

I don't think Rapala has ever done anything with those etched scales like that. 1 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 8, 2020 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 8, 2020 I use Gamakatsu treble hooks for crankbaits. 1 Quote
basscrusher Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 I used to have a Berkley Frenzy with a similar pattern, but can't remember if the body shape was the same as that one. Quote
JohnFromLisbon Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 It looks a lot like the Frenzy lipless. The scale pattern matches but that gill looks off and the head is smoother like the RNRs. And the Frenzy had an etched fin too, I think. It's either a knockoff design or a short-lived model, I guess. Quote
basscrusher Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Last night I dug up my one remaining frenzy...body shape seems a little off, but I looked at a frenzy deep diver that I still have NIB because Jay Yelas autographed it for me, and that scale pattern is so close! Also my frenzy lipless doesn't have the gill flare. Now thinking knockoff. Anyone know if it could be the Ozark trail one? Quote
Super User Spankey Posted October 9, 2020 Super User Posted October 9, 2020 Rapala. And that’s a darn good pattern. You can still get those. The gold version is a great pattern also. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 9, 2020 Super User Posted October 9, 2020 Rapala lipless doesn't have embossed scale pattern or gills, everything is smooth and printed patterns that I have owned. Tom 2 Quote
