My current setup for punching 1-2 oz. baits is a 7’4” XH Falcon expert.

Given all the new rods out there since I purchased the expert, I’m curious what other ~7.5 ft punching sticks are out there that might be lighter than my current setup. I’m talking light as in it weighs less than the expert.

Anything from megabass?

The regular Expert Amistad which is a 7’3” Heavy weighs 4.3 ounces which I consider pretty light for a $200 production rod. I’m sure the 7’4” XH is in the 4.8 ounce range.

The best way to go light is to have a custom rod built for you using premium components. It will likely cost double however

Kinda what I figured. Just wasn’t sure if the new offerings from any of the premium brands would be on the lighter side.

Thanks for the response though.

I don’t own one, but Phenix Feather has 7’3” and 7’7” Extra Heavy rods rated to 3 oz. I have 2 different Feather rods and are amazed at how light they are. Several reviews on TW and a couple specific to the Extra Heavy rods and are positive... one says the 7’3” Extra Heavy weighs 3.75 ounces which if correct is about half the heft of a similar sized St.Croix I used to have.
