OriahLove Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Hello friends! Long time reader, first time poster here. Im looking for a MediumHeavy/Moderate crankbait casting rod that I can throw big trebles lures, topwater and stuff like the 168 sized S-Waver. I have a St. Croix Mojo bass Med/Fast that I love, so naturally I tend to want to go back to them for this job. However I love my Daiwa reels, and this rod will be paired with a Daiwa Tatula 150HS casting reel, so it makes me feel like the Daiwa Tatula Elite Glass Crank rod would fit or balance well with it? Plus I read the Tatula rods are well liked. I also am a fan of St. Croix solid warrantee. So I am torn and unsure, and would love any words of advice or guidance you can lend me. Also open to other suggestions! Thanks very much for you time. OriahLove Quote

Only if you want to chance breaking your rod. All the rods you've listed are rated to 1 oz max and the S-Waiver 168 is 1&5/8oz. You'd need to go to a heavier rod like the Fury 795SB (swimbait rod) to handle those big lures. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 4, 2020 Super User Posted October 4, 2020 I think you are looking at a swimbait rod for that bait. 1 Quote
OriahLove Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Thank both very much. You are right, and with more research i think ill go with the new Tatula 300 to pair with the 795sb. I appreciate the help! Quote
