I do feel more bites with 12# test but what I loose in abrasion resistance I'll stay with 15# Big Game.

 

Yo-Zuri Hybrid would be second

I thought I was the only one on here who had a bad experience with YoZuri. It had memory that wouldn't go away and handled terribly.

 

I used to be a Silver Thread fanatic, but lately I've switched over to Mean Green on my baitcasters.

It doesn't bother me, I think it's low stretch compared to any other comparable diameter copoly. What i love about it is the low memory and how well it handles. Im surprised I hardly ever hear about it.

I like the Defier lines too, but it was not one of his choices. I like the Defier Shooter better than Armillo for reaction baits though

I had similar experiences with YoZuri. I went back to Big Game. I am going to try Berkley Fluoro-Shield line when it becomes available. It’s a hybrid line as well. Hope I have better luck with it.

Never tried suffix elite, but I use suffix advance mono. 

A little more expensive but, It is a lot more manageable than yozuri. 

 

There are a lot of good reviews on yozuri, but to me it acts just like cheap line should. Stiff, thick diameter, inconsistent knots, and stretchy. That is just my two cents.

Sufix Elite was referenced above. I haven't used it but I use Sufix Siege for all my fishing. 12 pound test is my favorite all around mono line.

Berkley Big Game 10# was my "do everything" line until I switched to 30lb braid for that.  To me, 12# is too thick for more finesse oriented presentations, and doesn't really offer much more in the way of strength.  Berkley Big Game is just a good overall line.  It's not too bad with memory, so it casts and handles well.  And it holds knots really well.  It's biggest flaws, to me, is that it isn't all that abrasion resistant and it stretches.  But it's cheap, and you usually only get nicks near the end of your line.  So I have problem cutting off the last few feet from time to time to deal with the nicks.  And no mono is all that great with abrasions.  And as for the stretch, well all mono lines stretch a lot.  Some might stretch more or less than others, but all stretch enough that if stretching is going to be a problem, then your best bet is to switch away from mono, rather than waste money switching between brands.

I used line conditioner on my 10# YoZuri and did not notice any difference. It wasn't KVD though.

 

Sufix Elite is Ok. Siege is better to me, it's tough stuff. Got my PB Bass on Siege.

I'll second the Braid (I use power pro) + whatever leader, works pretty well for me and saves some money. Braid lasts a long time and since I only use a few feet of FC or Mono at a time a single spool of each has been working for a couple years now. This is especially useful when you fish with very little gear, on the kayak I only carry 1 or maybe 2 rods and switching leaders for different jobs is quick an easy. 

 

Just for me, this setup has the most utility - I don't have the luxury of having an individual line/rod/reel setup for each specific technique so each of my rods has to cover a few bases.

10# CXX is already MUCH thicker and stronger than 12# Yo-Zuri. So, never treat 12# CXX and Yo-Zuri in the same class. If 12# Yo-Zuri is the strength you need, then you should get 10# CXX, not 12# which is a hell lot thicker and stronger than you need.
