I don’t think I’ve ever seen an MLF pro throwing a rattletrap.  Any idea why this is?  Seems like a rattletrap would be a great “numbers” lure which is key in that type of tournament.

Probably just haven't fished anywhere that sets up well for them. For me, they're one of those baits that's either the best bait to be fishing, or they're not biting it at all, nowhere in between.

Well then you haven’t watched mark Daniels jr ! Isn’t he an MLF pro? Also ott Defoe caught some key fish with an arashi lipless bait during the bassmaster classic, surely he’s an MLF pro

*I saw Gary Klein throw a shad color lipless crank bait (if that counts) in Florida in June ! I took note because usually the tight wiggle of a lipless crank bait is more associated with cooler water .

Not the actual rattle trap, but I've seen several videos of Jared lintner, Brett white, takahiro omori, and others throwing various lipless cranks as search baits

But I haven't seen in it in actual mlf action

My thought also.
But I gotta believe a few of them have traps in their rotation most everyplace they go.

A Rattle Trap is a search bait.  It finds fish.  No other bait covers water as fast.  What you do once you find them is what wins tournaments.

I do enjoy watching MLF but there has never been a lot of talk or good visuals as to what they are using. A few guy yak it up about what they are using.

I've been a user of them a long time and always have one tied on or ready to be tie on.

I carry a rod with a Rattle Trap tied on whenever I go bass fishing.  I can't tell you how many times I have been fishing without fish, thrown out a Rattle Trap and caught fish.  I was introduced to Rattle Trap fishing twenty years ago by a tournament fisherman who never fished with anything else.  A good Rattle Trap fisherman is tough to beat.  There is more to Rattle Trap fishing than chunkin' and windin'.

Lintner won a round just throwing as blue and silver lipless Crankbait

This is my thinking on it as well.  I don’t know what the schedule is for the MLF Cup tournaments but from what I’ve seen, the timing isn’t conducive right for most of them or where they are fishing isn’t conducive.  It seems like most of the time they are either drop shotting, fishing docks and other shallow cover.  I hate to say it but watching them fish the smallmouth lakes up North is pretty boring....seems a lot like NASCAR races at almost any non-restrictive plate tracks.

In 2019 there was a MLF event in Florida where Tak and someone else ran circles around a group of isolated pads and caught a million fish on traps
