Thanks, Glenn.

At our bass club meeting on September 23rd a number of the guys were talking about this merger but since I had not read about it I just dismissed it as rumor.

Seems to true.

So much for MLF bashing 5 fish tourneys like they did.

I guess those tourneys dont seem too bad now that they are making you money.

Here's how it now looks

Can't say I am surprised. The FLW field (in general) was weak after the purge, and the MLFLW tournaments this year have been underwhelming. BPT has been confusing and disinteresting since the start because of the constant changes to the format and delays in getting the final shows to market.

This change does not seem like it is going to do anything positive for growing the sport with new anglers or maintianing interest in the MLFLW/BPT product with people interested in tournament fishing.

didn't the bass pro tour anglers sign a 2 year contract that is up this year? interested to see how many of them try to re-qualify for the elites after this year (unless they won AOY previously in the elites like palaniuk and swindle have)

They signed a 3-year contract.

Jason Christie (The REAL one) is 1st in the Open AOY points so I hope he qualifies and jumps back to the Elites in 2021.

I hope some anglers return to BASS. it would be nice to have a mixture of big names in both leagues.  I know all guys fishing Elites are great anglers, but I have little to no interest when I don't recognize at a least a few names toward the top of the leaderboard.  I realize it takes time to develop some name recognition but instead of a top ten that is a whose who, sometimes in BASS  is just who?  It seems in BPT you need to make quick decisions and find fish fast.  There is no grinding it out hoping to get a few big bites.  It seems some anglers excel no matter what the format is (Wheeler, Defoe, Lee) while other big names have really struggled (Christie). I think most guys will go where they feel they can be successful. I hope both leagues continue to be successful. I have zero interest in competing in tournament fishing, but for those that do, the more options the better.
