With a black colorado blade and a black mister twister sinsation trailer.  Has been a great producer for years.

I rarely used black spinner baits much before this past season.  I really only used them at night time.  I decided to try it one rainy day in early August and they pounded it.  Even got a nice tiger muskie too.  Normally in spinner bait colors I used the white, white/chartreuse, neon green, etc.  Black is definitely going to be used more regularly.

I have to change the topic name for 2021, but my choice this year would either be the texas rig or spinnerbait, spinnerbaits especially in the later half of the season up to now.

My personal MVL is as follows:

Z-Man finesse TRD in green pumpkin goby.

I buy the 1/8 Oz Z-Man Ned head, and snip off the hook right behind the keeper.  Shove it into the bait, and use a tiny dab of super glue to hold it.

Then, I tie on a 1/0 Owner rigging hook, and rig it up on the opposite end.

I've used this setup to catch fish when literally NO ONE else was even getting a nibble.

Black spinner bait for me in 2021.

I have to find out when that color will work for me, if it ever will. I have thrown it at least a few times to try it and it won’t outproduce other colors for me, even while throwing the same spinnerbait

I only have white or white and chartreuse spinnerbaits.  They almost always produce.

Jackall Digle 4+ opened up crankbait fishing for me* and caught bigs. It's a deep squarebill that I bought for fishing suspended treetops, which I haven't done with it yet.

*where I fish the normal squarebait depths are often weedy and a much better fit for other presentations. But at 10'-12' feet they are short or gone altogether, and it was catching fish that I couldn't get on any other way.

Senko was the numbers bait for me this year, but every fish over 5lb so far this year was on a lipless crankbait.

This year it has to be a crankbait.  From the first of May until the end of August the bass were absolutely hammering them on every trip.

Two new lures for me in 2021 were the chaterbait, and A rig.  I was a little disappointed with the size of fish caught on a  chaterbait.  The A rig worked better than expected, but not my favorite way to fish.

My best lure for big fish was a 6th. sense mini mag square bill.  For whatever reason the big bass preferred the action of the larger square bill over the smaller sizes.  Because it worked so well, I fished it places a treble hooked lure should not be fished, making it the Bait Monkeys favorite lure of 2021 too.

No. 1 for size:

Gantarel Junior - was my intro to hard swimbaits this year, and I had some excellent success.

No. 1 for numbers:

Been using the maxscent flatworm on ned heads for a month - loved by smallmouth in Ontario, largemouth in the south.  Already the star of the year.

I would have replied a Suicide Shad on an Owner underspin, but got me skunked today ?

I’ve got 2 mvp’s this year.  1st this strike root beer crank caught the biggest bass of the year in August which, was about 4.5 lbs I think.

2nd mvp was a a black and blue flake curly tail worm on the titabawassee river. Brand didn’t matter as   I had success with both Berkeley and BPS versions EB032EA0-D572-44C8-BEF2-EED497B98FBA.jpeg.337c7e9dc19fbeb4df54689243b8a30f.jpeg
