TriStateBassin106 Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 So in the world of professional sports we all know the phrase of MVP. (Most Valuable Player) and the accomplishments athletes can do to achieve this award. Now In terms of bass fishing for the 2020 season what lure would you rank as Most Valuable? Did this lure exceed all expectations from you as an angler? Did this lure catch your PB? Did this lure catch hundreds of fish? Leave your comments down below for your lure or choice and why! (My lure is the chatterbait. It did it all for me this year fished various types of ways and I caught plenty of nice sized fish with it, honorable mentions are the senko and flipping jigs.) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 For the 25th consecutive year, the winner is... SENKO 7 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 2020 MVP award goes to.....Jerkbait. Honorable mention.....Spinnerbait. Why ? They kept putting fish in the boat. Lol Quote
Super User king fisher Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 Spinnerbait. Caught both my PB and the most fish. I gave all this years draft picks their fare share of playing time, but the old veteran always came through with the big score in the end. Season isn't over yet, and lipless crank bait had a good play off game last week end, and I still have hope for my big rat. It only takes a couple big fish at the end to change the outcome. 1 Quote

Smalls Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 I think a football jig put the most fish in my kayak this year. Moving from a state where every fishery has tons and tons of grass to a state with nothing but rocky reservoirs forced me to throw it more, and really learn it well. The move also forced me to really figure out how to fish for suspended fish. A weighted wacky rig in these situations came in a very close second for MVL. 1 Quote
txchaser Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 American Shad frog (white belly with a little red on the nose) and a chartruese tail. New bait for me, and it got bit more than its fair share, including in open water. I probably pressed the envelope on where I'd throw it just to see. Basically I could throw it just about anywhere and get a decent presentation. So much fun to fish. 3 Quote
camman Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 for size its been a LC 1.5 and for numbers been a 6" Robo Quote
plawren53202 Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 So far this year it would be a Ned rig w/ honorable mention to a 4" Yum Dinger. Neither of which are my favorite thing to throw. I'm hoping fall pushes some more reaction type baits like a squarebill, chatterbait or swim jig into the running. 1 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 With regard to trophy-class fish in weedy, subtropical lakes, a solid, long-term performer has been the Soft Paddletail Swimbait' (Ample bulk...totally weedless). Examples include but are not limited to: > Gambler Big-EZ > Keitech Fat Swing > Jackall Rhythm Wave > Basstrix Paddletail > ~ ~ ~ Roger Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 Zman Finesse WormZ rigged a variety of ways has been the best overall throughout the year, barely nudging out the Finesse TRD/half ZinkerZ. ROY award is a tie between Dark Sleeper and a couple finesse/micro jigs. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted September 29, 2020 Super User Posted September 29, 2020 My two best bass this year came on the same lure-combo...though different colors Strike King Swim Jig in 3/8 / Berkley Pit Boss First on a Green Pumpkin / Green Haze Second on a Sexy Shad / Skeet's Chartreuse Shad Quote
Yakalong Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Senko for the most fish paddle tail swim bait for the biggest this year Quote
Super User gim Posted September 30, 2020 Super User Posted September 30, 2020 I would also say a chatterbait. White and bluegill seemed to work the best based on the water clarity. I can assure you there were days when they were not effective, however. Quote
crypt Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 so far Culprit Fat Max..........but I'll let ya know at the end of the year, still got time..... Quote

DaubsNU1 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Just back in to fishing after 15+ year layoff...MVP was the tried and true lead-head with white power grub. It just put fish in the boat. New to me this year were the Senko, Whopper Plopper, square bill, swimming jig+paddle tail. Still learning how and when to fish these... Spinner bait boated the biggest fish of the year, 36" | 8lb, 11oz. pike. Good fun! 3 Quote
