Eddie101 Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Currently, I'm using an Expride 7'2" glass rod which I like a lot, and am looking for another rod that can handle some heavier lures: up to 1.5/2.0 oz. What's your favorite cranking rod for heavier lures, and what would you suggest? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 28, 2020 Super User Posted September 28, 2020 I have the G.Loomis 903C IMX and so far I love the way it feels and handles deep cranks but lighter baits than you mentioned. If the IMX-PRO 968C CBR is anything like it, it would make for a great big bait rod. 1 Quote
Cityangler7 Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Dobyns Champion 805CB, 806 CB if you are throwing closer to the 2oz baits. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted September 28, 2020 Super User Posted September 28, 2020 This is what I use for my larger crankbaits, S-Waver 168, Vatalion, Gantarel Jr, Bullshad (6"), Whopper Plopper 130. https://alxrods.com/collections/ikos/products/thunder-76-x-heavy-modfast-casting Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 28, 2020 Global Moderator Posted September 28, 2020 Check out Fenwick’s X series composite rods. They go up to a rating of 3oz. Mike Quote
