Hooks arrived from Shorty's yesterday so I will be spending a lot of time pouring. Ordered 60k but only 54k came the others are on backorder or had to be special order. This should be enough to get me started though?

Getting better at making molds and the fact that these pour like 25 at a time hooks go quick.

Only made about 1500 Ned heads so far. Think 8 is how many I have now? I can't remember because all I think about is how many more I have to make.

Actually I made 14 spincast molds and have over 30 hand pour molds as well. Making a lot of Ned and tube heads right now. Going to try a weedless jig if my order of Teflon pins ever arrives. If not I guess it will be a spinnerbait mold since I have the 12" discs. Made a bunch of weedless Neds last night just to see if it would work.

Eagle Claw, Mustad, VMC, Gamakatsu, Daiichi, Decoy, and Sohumi that I can remember?

Their black platinum lineup of hooks are quality hooks. Most every fish I catch on a Ned rig, shakyhead, tube, swinging football head, bladed jig, or skirted jig, has been caught on an Eagle Claw black platinum hook because they make up 90% of what I pour my baits on. They're also what I use for an EWG worm hook, wacky rig hook, and some crankbait trebles.

Sorry, read your question wrong. Those are either EC or VMC and as bluebasser mentioned EC has stepped up their game in the last couple of years. Since Mustad moved their production to China IMO EC are now better and cheaper than Mustad.

Now getting one of these companies to make a custom hook is proving to be difficult.

I see that cabelas has a very well priced bulk pack, laser sharp or something like that. In guessing those aren't the ones you guys are referring to?

Cabelas.ca btw not .com

Shorty's has the best price I have found but you have to order 1k minimum each hook.

That wire keepers for Ned heads I order direct from Mustang Wire and their minimum is 10k. I have a few spares in case I drop them on the floor like usual.

Captainhookswarehouse is where I order mine from. You can order smaller packs of hooks from there. I believe they're in some relation to Shorty's.

I am ticked at the Captain right now! It has been almost 6 weeks since I order a lot of hooks from them. Shorty's sent my order in 5 days for comparison.

BTW if you are looking for some cheap hooks there is a guy on Facebook selling the EC lil nasty hooks $18 for 1k.

That's the one big downside to CHW, they don't tell you if they're out of stock of a hook or anything, you just find out after you pay that you're going to be waiting a while.
