Bandersnatch Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 What is your favorite jigs combos to skip? This includes weight and trailer options. I'm just getting into skipping dock (late in the season I know) and I find it fascinating 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted September 21, 2020 Super User Posted September 21, 2020 I’ve actually been skipping weightless stick baits this season more often with great success. It’s worth trying if you haven’t tried it. 1 Quote
Fishin Dad Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I really like the Sieberts Dredge Dock Rocker in 3/8 oz. with a Rage Bug, Pit Boss, Beaver, or craw depending on season or what the bass want that day. The Dredge series has a hook bend that really helps Hold your plastic on and a flat head that skips very well. The color options, wire tie, and price are fantastic. I have heard Mike, the owner, is a great guy too. Like to support the smaller company that are good people to boot. 1 Quote

I think the fast sink and instant action of a jig can be great at times... but a lot of times I think we just blow by fish too fast... or klank the lead head off a hard metal object and spook the fish. A well-placed, slow falling, enticing weightless plastic that stays in the strike zone longer I think gets both the fast reactors as well as the neutral bystanders that can’t let a potential meal go by.. If the OP is new to skipping docks and finds it harder to skip a weightless Senko, try a Neko Rig. You can insert a little weight in one end (but it’s buried in plastic so no klanking) and you can jiggle it in the strike zone a long time. Quote
NJBasstard Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 For an all around jig the 3/8 Siebert improved arky. I like the Netbait Paca Craw but skips easier with something like a Rage Bug or Rage Menace in my opinion. For skipping and swimming around overhangs I'll often use that same jig rigged with a paddletail swimbait. 1 Quote
camman Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 for skipping docks, I've found I actually prefer the swinging-head football style jigheads. I find without the skirt I can get the bait further back underneath the dock. I usually use a RI Beaver and either a 1/4 or 3/8 oz head 1 1 Quote
jbrew73 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Siebert dock rocker 3/8 or 1/2 oz for me. 1 1 Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 The BOSS Finesse Flip in ⁷/¹⁶ skips like a river pebble to me. It's got a flattened bottom and an upward planed and flat nose to the hook eye that just really gets me distance on a skip. 1 Quote
Cptndeez64 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 For those of you worried about spooking dock fish. 1 Quote
