Hey guys,

I'm having a hard time deciding between the 7.2:1 and 6.3:1 Shimano SLX DC reel. It will be paired up on a Dobyn's Fury MH rod for Spinnerbaits/Chatterbaits/Swimbaits (or anything else that would work well on this combo).

I am leaning towards the 6.3:1, but I'm wondering if it would be more versatile on the 7.2:1.

Thanks for the help.

I just went ahead and ordered the Shimano SLX XT 6.3:1

That is same g/r that i throw mine on, it will work.

Just saw this... I run my moving baits on a 7.3:1. Sometimes you want to 'burn' them near the surface, and the faster reel makes it easier to do. Only thing I run on 6.3:1 is cranks/jerks. I also do jigs on on the 7.3.

However I do know that some work moving baits with 6.3...just not my personal preference.

Yea I think that was the right decision. For me anything that gets retrieved with the reel is 5 or 6 g.r. and anything that gets moved with the rod gets 7 or 8 g.r.

Thanks guys.

Just a heads up that the MH Fury is the 3 power and that's definitely a weak rod for chatterbaits and swimbaits. I like it for spinnerbaits. It's not like a traditional MH, much more of a M. The 4 power seems like what you'd want.

Hmm...I have the 7' MH Dobyn's and I guess I didn't notice that. In terms of swimbaits I would agree - I should have specified smaller swimbaits, flukes, etc.
