Fishnski48 Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 I went out fishing yesterday afternoon/night when the temps were reasonable here in AZ and was throwing chatter baits, swim jigs, TRigs and a good old drop shot..nothing was working. Finally decided to try a Bubba shot using a number 2 offset(straight not EWG ) hook and a 6 inch Danny Joe's original floating worm (Red Shad) with a 1/4 Oz weight and to my surprise.. that's what they wanted. had a great dusk and early night "B" shotting. Decided to call it quits a 9 pm since there was no moon and I was out on my TwinTroller and my buddy was on his kickboat and it was a good 45 minutes back to the ramp. It was great to get out and not sweat my butt off for once this summer..ok a little sweat but only till the sun went down. I am now a believer in the Bubba shot as another way to entice a bite. 1 Quote
GTN-NY Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 I need to learn this. A friend told me to rig this up the night before a tournament a few weeks ago. I got on youtube and saw the bubba style. I rigged it the best I could with what I had. 12lb green big game mono, 1/0 owner hook, 6” straight worm and a basic 1/2oz bell sinker. Lake is weedy and stained water. Very first cast with it I thought I hooked a bunch of weeds until the weeds moved sideways. Total accidental catch of a 15” LM. I’ve been using it ever since then and nothing, nada, zilch. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 13, 2020 Super User Posted September 13, 2020 Stick with it. We're from the same area, and I promise you that it is very effective on lakes around here. 1 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Actually I fished a lake 2 days ago that the bubba rig probably would have been good for. It’s a smaller lake but, I thought it was a hard bottom. However, kept trying to throw a Carolina rig after the pads that ring it were a no go. I kept dragging up clay and Black Sea weed/Algea with the Carolina rig Quote

Bass Rutten Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 2 hours ago, BassinCNY said: Yes. That's me. Which league? I looked into a few local tourneys in my area and none of them allowed canoes due to their definition of a kayak is that it had to be a one piece plastic craft. Ive been fishing this rig quite a bit this year and even got a new pb about a month ago using a strike king baby bass caffeine shad on it. Quote
