BattleBornBassMann Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Length: 17 ft. Engine: Evinrude Tracker XP 150 Im looking into buying my first bass boat, and am wondering if this is a good boat to start off with. If you guys could help me out that would be great. Is this a reliable boat? Quote
dmac14 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Depends on how good the owner is, If he babied this boat then sure it'll be great. If he just kinda had it, performed no annual maintenance then it may be in bad shape. Quote
BattleBornBassMann Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 How do i go about asking him about that. He said he used it maybe 1-2x a month...and only had it for three years, so hes not the original owner. Quote
BattleBornBassMann Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 5000, trying to get it lower though..what do you think? Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 5000, trying to get it lower though..what do you think? NADA has that boat pricing out at $2800 max. How do i go about asking him about that. He said he used it maybe 1-2x a month...and only had it for three years, so hes not the original owner. Unless you are familiar with what to look for on an older fiberglass boat you might want to shy away from this one. The motor would need to be gone over by a pro as well. Quote
BattleBornBassMann Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 d**n..well i guess ill look elsewhere...can i get a decent bass boat for 5000? Thats pretty much all i can afford Quote
soccplayer07 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Yes you can fine a boat in the price range. It will take a bit of searching but they are around. I used Craigslist, newspapers and ebay. I just bought an 86' ranger 370v w/ a 93' 150hp faststrike for well below 5k. It took me around 6 weeks of searching. Don't settle. Use nada.com to check prices out. If someone list the boat much higher than they suggest mention nada's quote. Usually that is enough to get the price down. I would also suggest getting a mechanic to come out and check the engine and boat out. I was very reluctant to pay the money for one myself but in hindsight it is well worth it for peace of mind alone. Good luck. Ask lots of questions on forums too. Quote
