I am installing a Minn Kota Terrova with Mega DI and I-pilot link on my Bayliner Capri. I am getting lost in all of the jargon for these fish finders, and need help decking what will work. I understand I need a Humminbird for the bow that supports Mega DI to work with the trolling motor transducer, but I need to decide what would be the best companion Humminbird to go on the dash of the boat and work even when the trolling motor isn’t in the water. I was thinking maybe I should go with a unit that supports Mega SI since the trolling motor doesn’t have that? I mainly want to get as many imagimg options as possible, and be able to control the trolling motor via I-pilot link from both Humminbirds. This is just a cheap weekend boat for recreational fishing so I will probably limit pricing to around $1k, preferably less if it’s feasible. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I have a 7 inch mega si hummingbird on my console, and a 7 inch di on my bow. To be honest I very seldom use the down imaging on the bow. Usually just have 2d and the GPS map on the screen.

I use the side imaging at the console quite a bit.

I have a Minn kota ultrex trolling motor and have never felt the need for I pilot link.

Some people go way overboard for weekend boats and never use half of the functions they buy.

The i-pilot link might be overkill for a lot of features, but there are a couple that make it worth the bump in cost.  The biggest thing is it's hard having never used any of the imaging features so I don't know which will be useful or not.  I don't have any experience with the 2d, Mega DI, SI, etc. to know which to prioritize.
