Super User NYWayfarer Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 It’s all downhill from here. The fishing gets better as the Bass feed up for fall but it’s bittersweet as hard water is just after that. I can’t complain. It’s been a great year for me. I smashed my quantity and quality records. 2 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 I've got five 3-day trips booked on Cape Cod from mid September to the first week in November for just that reason: NO TOURISTS and lots of smallmouth fishing! Quote

It sure doesn’t feel like fall here in SE Texas lol. But I can’t complain either. This year has been spectacular for me. One for the books. 1 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Actually excited about this fall. First time I’m going to seriously fish it. Looks like we are going to have an early fall And it will hopefully get all the new fair weather fishermen back inside. On the flip side I have feel g that there will be a ton of hunters this year in the woods. Like more than we have seen around here in 25 years roughly 3 months to ice up Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted September 9, 2020 Super User Posted September 9, 2020 I made a post recently about being ready for fall and cooler weather. Well, I got my wish. This morning was 49 degrees, high today 54. Next week looks good also with night lows around 60, day temps low 70s. We'll warm up again before fall fully gets here. Now, if we could get 3 to 4 days of consistent weather, I'd really be happy. I made a post recently about being ready for fall and cooler weather. Well, I got my wish. Super User DitchPanda Posted September 9, 2020 Super User Posted September 9, 2020 Sunday was 95 here..the past 2 days we haven't got above 50 for a high so that's a serious change. Gonna go out later and see if it helped. Quote
Big Hands Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 It dropped 29 degrees between the high on Sunday and the high today. However, the high Sunday was 116°, so today was a bone chilling 87° Quote

So far I am having the worst year I've ever had. If it doesn't get any better I might as well stay home. Temps right now are still in the upper 80s. Should start cooling down some next week. I will probably be a glutton for punishment and try my luck somewhere on the water tomorrow. 1 Quote
joshuaray83 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 It's been pretty fall-like around here. The high yesterday was 82 and will be in the mid-upper 70s the rest of the week and into the weekend. I'll be camping and fishing this weekend. It'll be partly cloudy most of this weekend with ~10 mph wind and highs in the lower 70s. Perfect weather if you ask me. Quote

And I mean zero fish (the south bay sucks, I caught some out of town). I fished a lot and one day it finally clicked and suddenly I'm practically a pro, just without the cool jersey. I had serious doubts about myself but just kept on going. Someone at one point told me, "Maybe fishing isn't for you?" (thanks, Mom!). So ya, serious doubts. It was depressing. Think of it as a challenge. 2 Quote

Think of it as a challenge. I went again Wednesday and caught 1 LMB. First one I've caught in my last four fishing trips. Boy did that feel good. I know some places I fish the fishing is not that good to begin with. I have been having bad luck on a lake I know fairly well and usually have some real good days on it. This lake got hit hard with so many people fishing it when everything got shut down. I feel like that is a lot of the problem. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted September 19, 2020 Super User Posted September 19, 2020 Still feels like Summer here in South Florida and the weather forecast seems to predict more warm weather. It rarely gets under 50 degrees where I live so it is nice weather to be outside. I look towards to seeing what fish I catch this Fall. Quote
Double__Digits Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 These cool nights have me thinking I should be hanging deer stands instead of fishing. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 22, 2020 Global Moderator Posted September 22, 2020 78 degree water near my house, the warmest it will be all year. No shortage of people wearing flannels and making soup trying to rush it , though Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted September 22, 2020 Super User Posted September 22, 2020 Fall here. Summer is trying but dying. Had a snowstorm rocket through a week or so ago, dropping 10" of snow on my waters. The day before was in the 90s for a 60F drop in 24hrs! Nights have stayed cool since. We're in Fall and that's that. Fish were cooperative on both sides of the front. Still summer thin, but nearly all had food in them: Bluegill, shad, craws, and... a mouse! The fall binge is on apparently. 1 Quote

Vilas15 Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 High of 45 next week at the cabin. It's prime musky time right now. Then post turnover is prime walleye time. I bass fish in the spring ?, but theres always a chance at a big bass dragging big redtail minnows for walleyes. Quote

Give the guys a pricing point and you will get several great recommendations. A buzzbait rod is not that complicated. M or MH, Fast or Moderate Fast action. I use the same rig for all topwater lures: G.Loomis GLX PR844C/ Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo #11. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted September 28, 2020 Super User Posted September 28, 2020 Okay, back on topic... 50's and 60's here. We might get a head start on smallmouth season! Quote
GTFishing18 Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 All too warm in PA/DE/MD also. Even with the colder nights, still getting my 70s during the day. Waters still warmer than the air... Quote
