Fin S Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Let's celebrate the end of pleasure boating season and the beginning of Fall fishing season. Pretty soon, we'll be able to fish a cove without being accosted by a ski boat pulling a Big Mable. 7 Quote
ike8120 Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Not in NJ, the season has been extended. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 The longer nights have already got the bass biting in the back of creeks where I fish . 4 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 You'll hear no complaints out of me . . . A-Jay 3 2 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 I wish it were so. The water is still warm and the will still be coming. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Sadly, with many learning remotely, I think the Fall traffic will busy until the cooler temps are here to stay. That said, any relief is appreciated Quote
Super User Bird Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Labor day weekend usually signals a big slowdown to pleasure boat season. Like mentioned, this year it may be less noticeable than in the past. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 The hibernation is getting closer as the air & water temps drop. A-Jay 1 2 Quote

A-Jay I’m not sure if that’s the same pontoon or not, but your picture reminds me of your video that cracked me up! It went like this: Smoker voice Wanda says as she drives by you at about 40’ off your bow: “catching anything?” Quick witted A-Jay says: “I could catch you!” Your comment seemed to go right over her head. She probably thought you were hitting on her. ? 2 6 Quote

Here in Jersey I don't think the pleasure boats are ever gonna go away lol, my home lake gets lowered every year so people can repair docks but I feel like that's not gonna stop em lol 1 Quote
Tizi Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 the weather is still too nice here to stop boat traffic, they will be around another month... Quote

Super User king fisher Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Zero pleasure boaters ever on the fresh water lakes I fish in Mexico. All the pleasure boaters head for the ocean. I live on the ocean, and drive 2 to 3 hours to get to fresh water lakes with bass. Even without boat pressure, I was only able to catch one small bass yesterday. Maybe I should become a pleasure boater. I might have more success, looks easy, and I wouldn't have to get up at 3:00 AM. 3 1 Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 In northern part of country things are cooling and slowing down on the water. Fish are now feeding harder and water temps are hovering at 62 degrees. Early mornings at dawn are high 40's and bugbites are all but gone Think we will hit the water Tuesday thru Thrusday this coming week, try to get some big ones pictures. Caught a pretty big pickerel the other day.....he jumped out of the water twice right up next to the boat and yet didn't manage to bite the line off I was amazed! Dave 5 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 My primary lake has a 25 hp limit. The only pleasure boat we get are sailboats and kayaks. I only fish the Cruise and Ski lakes in the winter. 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Not yet in Florida. I think it was 95 here yesterday. Bass Fishing is worse here in sept. than any other time of year imo. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 It's almost here for me and I'm ready. Like clockwork we have labor day tomorrow followed by cool heck almost cold weather...should be good for keeping the swimmers, kayakers, fair weather folks away...just in time for the bass to move up shallow to crush a jig and spinnerbait. Every year I look forward to it...this year has been exceptionally bad for trash, rudeness and morons..so I'm extra excited. It is bittersweet for us up north because winter is coming next but at this point I don't care. I'm tired of picking up garbage and watching people yell and act like drunken idiots...whatever needs to happen to stop it I'm all for it. 4 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted September 6, 2020 Global Moderator Posted September 6, 2020 Most pleasure boating ends this weekend and actually the lakes are pretty dead from what I saw today in my travels because of the unfavorable weather we’re having. Better yet, in about two weeks most anglers will be focusing on getting ready to sit in the woods chasing after the floppy tails, which means wide open lakes for the rest of us! 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 It's still summer in the South. 5 Quote
Cdn Angler Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Up here in Ontario it was the hottest summer in living memory. Most 30 degree days (92 farenheit?) ever in July. The water was like a bath tub. I could barely get fish to hit a moving lure, just had to drop it on their head. Hopefully the MUCH cooler temps will kick start things. Quote
Super User gim Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Fall conditions are on the horizon here in MN starting tomorrow. It’s 80 and somewhat humid today but by Tuesday the high may not hit 60. It looks like cooler temps for the next week or so too. That’ll keep the riff raff off the lakes for a while. In Denver it’s almost 100 degrees today and by Tuesday they are predicting 30 degrees and snow at the higher elevations. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Happens fast here. Local weather for the coming week has day time air temps in the 50's, some seriously gusty winds and Big Fat Rain. We had no power yesterday for 6 hours right in the middle of the day. Par for course here. Won't be long before my annual name change to 'Get Wood' is complete. A-Jay 2 Quote
Glaucus Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I've done a lot of pleasure boating this season on a 50hp 12 seater pontoon boat with the lady and the kiddos. I now see it from both sides. Sometimes it's hard to avoid disturbing fishermen. The coves are the swimming areas as well. And, to be honest, the bass boaters don't own the water. That said I do go out of my way to be as courteous as possible, knowing that it's appreciated and it's all I would ask. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 6, 2020 Super User Posted September 6, 2020 Water is still warm in the ponds I fish. Doesn’t look like it’s going to cool down any time soon. Quote
