In basketball you have a triple double, three “scores” or stats in double digits. In fishing, I guess you’d refer to catches of two species in 4 digits a double quadruple ? lol. Been down sick the past couple weeks, but enjoyed a nice afternoon of crappie fishing right before that happened, landing about 75 fish and putting my yearly crappie total catch count over the 1,000 fish mark. I’m also sitting just shy of 1,900 bass for the year, hence the “double quadruple.” Just started feeling good enough to sneak back out after bass with this cooling weather, so looking forward to topping the 2k mark hopefully in the near future.

Here’s a couple ‘specks’ from that last trip.

That's some pretty good numbers.  I'm hoping to just find the crappie next week when I go.

A friend of mine (now RIP) was an avid crappie fisherman. He would dip brush and timber, but on points he would use what he called a "find'em rig". This consisted of line with hooks about every foot (usually 8 or 10 feet total) with a small lead weight on the end. The bobber was a hand-made styro slip bobber with a button (yes, a button off of clothing!) for a stop. He would hurl this contraption off a 12 or 14 foot cane pole that had an eye at the end but nothing more. He did it well. I was jealous; every time I tried it, I slung a tangled mess about 5 feet. ??

Many, many times he got doubles. A fair number of times he got triples. He told me that a couple of times he had gotten four. I definitely believed him; he was not one to exaggerate.

So now you know what I was thinking when I saw the title of your post.  ??    jj

Thanks -

I keep it pretty simple, using mostly 1.5" to 2" crappie tubes (BPS, Southern Pro, MidSouth) as well as similar sized shad bodies (Bobby Garland). Every once in a while I'll pull out small hair jigs, too, usually in the cold water periods. Love feeling the thump of a crappie sucking in a jig :)
