I’m sending this out for the Gloomis people out there, I’m looking for a new jig rod, preferably a gloomis. I throw at most a 1/2oz jig. I’ve been looking at the NRX 854c but thought I would ask you all what you think. I’m looking for sensitivity price range is $500

So I have the NRX 853C and the GLX 803C.  The sensitivity of the 853 is fantastic and for 1/2oz jigs, it's pretty much perfect but the 803C also great>  It's just a fuzz less sensitive.  I can't say for sure what it is but I sort of like the 803c better for jigs and the 853C for spinnerbaits, swim jigs and especially for the Dark Sleeper.

I have put the NRX 854C in hand and it seemed a little to stout for lighter jigs I wanted to use (mainly 1/2oz or smaller).

wait for the new nrx to come out. the current NRX are poorly built rods on amazing blanks.

I own and have owned a bunch. I never cared for the 89 inch models as much as the 85 but that's personal preference..

To me the GLX is more comfortable than the NRX and the sensitivity is so close that one's not going to catch a fish the other wouldn't have.

I would agree with the 853. I've been told it's the most popular Loomis model across the board from E6X to NRX

I have it in GLX and NRX and it's a perfect 3/8 - 1/2 ounce jig rod. To me, the 854 is a touch to tight and I could never see the attraction to the 894 and I've owned 2.

Me waiting for that "new NRX" to come out when every other rod in their lineup has been updated years ago...

There has been rumors for a long time, no telling when they will replace them. I have been told 3M sold the rights to the resin used in the blanks to Abu Garcia so the blank will never be the same. That blank is legendary

That was a long time ago. The new NRX prototypes are already being used by David Walker and others. Full handle, not sure on guides.

If you’re looking at the current models of GLX and nrx, make sure you compare the reel seats. Love the GLX blank but man the real seat feels funky in my hands.

I have the GLX, NRX and Conquest.

there is no wrong decision here.  Of your two choices I would go NRX.

Personally I love the MBR flex and get more fish in the boat , but is may be the way I fish.  Many say the NRX is old technology......who cares!

I believe Shimano/Loomis saw that coming and never used the 3M resin. I do know that it hosed Dobyns on the high end rod they were working on before the Xtasy that never got released. It's name escapes me.

Doesn't seem like Abu ever did much with it except for maybe the Fantisista or Techna. Or the JDM market.

I believe some of the very early NRX models used Powerlux, because they did get liquidated at one time. I remember I bought an 852s for $256 from Kittery Trading Post. That could have also had something to do with the early models having issues with the handles and locking nuts as well. St Croix also had powerlux in their blanks for like a year. Believe Lamiglas did in a couple models. It never really made sense to me for Abu to buy the rights, because similar technology eventually made its way to other manufacturers and now it's all some form of nano-resin.

Doesn't mean it will be released this year coming up. It could be 2+ years away. Product testing can go on for years. The NRX revamp makes a lot of since though. Also have heard that the will release a NRX new series and keep the old series as well. The old model has bad balance and not a fan of the recoil guides. I expect a NRX (with the same blank) full cork handle with about a 1/2-3/4 inch longer handle for better balance and FUJI Titanium Torzites. It wouldn't be smart to move away from the blank IMO.

I see Abu is now using it in the new Veritas PLX models for 2020. I bought a Lamiglas Infinity Bass that was supposed to use it, but my model was made on the line after 3M sold the rights.

Who told you that? Who is the source? So tell use how you know release dates? What else do they plan on dropping this year? I know word was last year NRX was going to drop but COVID I think messed that up.
