Eddie101 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 I just got a couple rods with the said guides, and they are, uh, different than what I'm used to. I can basically "feel" what my lure is doing under water which is quite amazing. But do they help me catch more fish? Well, I can't answer that question just yet. Also, due to some NET rumors about their fragility, I've sleeves on those rods; basically babying them, and that part I'm not too crazy about. So, what's your personal experiences/opinions about them? Quote

Super User Tywithay Posted September 4, 2020 Super User Posted September 4, 2020 I think they're great. I wish the guide rings were smaller on the Tatula Elite rods but I'm guessing they did it with leader knots in mind. I've had zero issues with durability. 1 Quote

A-Jay Hey there, just curious, do you have those Elites paired with a Tatula LT Limited Edition SS? It looks like you have a Fieder version of that rod? What is the other version, the Ehler or the Meyer?? I have the 7'6" Fieder rod that I am going to fish for the first time this weekend. It is paired with the Tat LT SS reel and it looks and feels great in my hand. Can't wait to fish it. What's your experience been with this model of rod?? 1 Quote

Managed to snag two before they sold out. One of my favorite reels & rigs. I bet you love it too. I have the drop shot rod and the Fieder neko rig model. Love that one for hair jigs and ned rigs. This is the best Brown Bass with it so far ~ A-Jay 1 Quote

I caught a six this year during the spawn on a hair jig and it didn't look anywhere near as big as yours! Very cool video of great fish catches. Actually I have been able to get my hands on six of those sterling silver Tatulas. Absolutely my favorite reel. I'm always on the search for more. Last question, I promise. did you do a video on YouTube for the ultimate bunk boards??? After I watch that video I went out and bought replacement boards for my trailer and I have them on there now. You look just like the guy that did the video with his wife. Was that you?? Nick 1 Quote

Don't know if that's the one you watched but if it was, I hope it helped. A-Jay 1 Quote
shimanoangler Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Well I helped enough to get me to buy him, ? Truly a small world, when you see somebody post a video about replacing bunk boards and then literally a couple months later you're actually communicating with that person about a It completely different video on a completely different forum. Anywho, thank you for sharing the fishing video, those were some great fish catches and that first smallmouth you got was enormous, on a ned rig to boot. That's one technique I have no confidence in but I watch videos and see people catch monster fish. I've got to figure that method out. I'm trying to decide whether or not I keep the elite AGS 7 ft 6 in rod that I have right now. Taking it out for a second trip, but one thing I noticed immediately is that it's just not stout enough to fish tubes above 1/4. I caught a couple of fish on a tube with a 3/8 oz jig head in it and I feel like the weight of the tube basically muted all the feel in the rod cuz I couldn't even feel the fish pick up the tube. What are the applications do you use that rod for, or is it really just Ned Riggs and hair jigs? Thanks again and look forward to your reply. This was my 5 plus this spring during the spawn. 1 1 Quote

Glad to hear that and Nice Smallie ~ ! That 7'6" is a ML so in my mind not really a tube type of stick. Much better at presenting lighter deals, like the a fore mentioned neg rig and hair jigs. Seems the sweet spot for that blank is close to an 1/8 oz. While using today's light & super thin braid mainlines, that blank allows me to get even lighter baits much further away from the boat than ever. The other application I use it for, and admittedly my skill with this one is still well in the novice category, is Medium to light Neko Rigged worms & stick baits. I'm using a light to medium light wire hook most times, something a notch above a small drop shot hook, so using a firm reel set hook set sinks the steel. Hope that helps A-Jay 1 Quote

Of course pouring down rain is forecast Tue, Wed and Thursday. A-Jay was very helpful to me with tips on getting them.. But if I can get a break in the rain at least there will not be a mob at the state park ramp. 1 Quote

If you take your time and you just get your screw holes in the right place the rest is actually pretty straightforward and simple. my tracker had two sets of boards on each side a thicker board on the outside and a thinner board on the inside and I replaced all four and less than an hour and a half. And honestly they are great in terms of getting your boat on and off, not nearly as much resistance and drag as the carpeted bunks have so it's easier to get the boat on and off the trailer especially when is water skinny. 1 Quote
