Pleasantonbassin’ Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Hey guys I’m looking to pick up a new jig rod, I had a gloomis imx pro 854 but I just sold it and looking to pick up a high end rod, what do you guys recommend? Quote
Super User Teal Posted September 4, 2020 Super User Posted September 4, 2020 If you like loomis buy another one. 2 Quote
Dens228 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 I know a lot of guys like to mix and match their rod choices, not being overly loyal to any particular brand. Me.......I find there is too much variation between brands to know that I'm getting when I can't lay my hands on it prior. One brands MH may be another brands H, or another brands M......same with action. Once I find what I like I stick with that brand. That way I know what I'm getting. I don't own a Loomis but if you like it why change. Quote
Super User NHBull Posted September 4, 2020 Super User Posted September 4, 2020 Demo GLX‘S can be had for just over 300.00 and Conquest just over 400.00. It is hard to beat the overall performance on top shelf Loomis rods. Quote

Super User NHBull Posted September 4, 2020 Super User Posted September 4, 2020 we are coming on the time of year where some major retailers sell their demos and exchangers. Many time a phone call yields better results and searching alone Quote

I wouldn't mind upgrading a rod or two to loomis or something.. I have a couple mega bass I'm looking at too. Will probably have an overhaul by start of next spring. Probably be a good mix of Dobyns, loomis, megabass and daiwa a d maybe some of my existing powell rods.. I dont know, will probably selling rods in december Will start with rods first. And will sprinkle in new reels as I can. I'm super impressed with my new zillion tw sv. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 4, 2020 Super User Posted September 4, 2020 Like lots of other guys, I won't buy a rod without touching it. There is a tackle shop in San Francisco - Hi's Tackle Box - which advertises itself as a boutique tackle shop. The guys who run the website Tackle Tour, speak highly of it from time to time. I'd go look there for a high end jig rod. You're inPleasanton California and that isn't that far from San Francisco. When the guys on Tackletour mention that tackle shop, they are never talking about low end or mid-range gear, generally high end, "enthusiast" level stuff. Quote

Pleasantonbassin’ Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 Thank you guy for your input, I was wondering has anyone handled a nrx 854C? I think that’s where I’m heading to for my next jig rod. Quote
BlackwaterPark10 Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I’d give the Shimano Poison Adrena a go. All accounts it’s an amazing rod Quote

Tom That’s a good idea but they don’t have any gloomis rods, I checked and they don’t hold them. Quote
