My local boater's world has a steal of a deal on a eagle fishelite 640c. I've never really heard of the brand eagle before and can't find any reviews on the 640c. Does anyone here have any experience with this model, likes, dislikes, easty to use? Also do i need a navionics chip to access the gps/chartplotter feature? Thanks in advance.

How much are they asking for this model?   I have an Eagle 500c.  Not a complaint except I wish it had the fish finder feature instead of just the GPS.

The Eagle line of electronics is a less expensive, less power, and less feature packed model made by the same company as Lowrance. It has a background map included, and is compatable with some mapping software for contours. No, you don't have to have additional software to use the GPS feature. They don't have the networking capability like Lowrance units do but most featurers are comparable. That model has one of the highest resolution screens available.

In the auto world, it's a Chevy compared to a Cadillac.
