riplips.tc Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Hey everyone, just wondering what your staple lures/baits are. Say you had to pick 3 to fish from pre-spawn to fall, what would they be? Personally, I'd go for the weightless texas rigged senko, a 3/8th oz casting jig, or a 1/2 oz spinnerbait. Thanks! 1 Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 With my toolbox filling up since I joined this forum and the list of techniques I can fish has grown, these types of questions become harder and harder to answer! Had some phone issues and ended up posting and editing my first reply too much. My presentations for that time period would be a ½ ounce jig, a ⅛ ounce shakeyhead, and a jerkbait. Quote
Bass Ninja Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Frog, Chatterbait, and Punch Rig. I just can't get myself to fish anything else for now. 1 Quote
Super User geo g Posted September 3, 2020 Super User Posted September 3, 2020 It depends on where I'm fishing. 1). regardless of where, a 4" senko, or stick-o type bait, W/M red color. Weightless, or 1/32 weight. Catches anywhere in the country. 2). In weeds and vegetation, a HB frog. Especially early and late in the day. 3). A U-vibe or chatterbait. Vary the speed, good in deeper waters. 1 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted September 3, 2020 Super User Posted September 3, 2020 Fishing the lake I go to most often it would be a texas rigged worm 8 to 10 inches , 1/2 ounce spinnerbait and Stanley Ribbet . Other places different lures . 1 Quote

Super User Koz Posted September 3, 2020 Super User Posted September 3, 2020 This question got me thinking. If I was fishing for food my choices would be a weightless Senko, a T-rigged worm, and a ned rig. But since I fish for sport I prefer a chatterbait, buzzbait, and spinnerbait. 1 Quote

Smokinal Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I fish too many different types of water to name 3. I go from whackin 50+ on a chrome trap one day in clear water to 30+ on a variety of baits the next weekend to 30+ in a gravel pit pond the next on drop shot and small swimbait. I just fished last sunday and caught em on a jig and crankbait. I could never narrow down any semblance of baits. 1 Quote

Tatsu Dave Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Well year round I guess my favorite would be weightless T Rig 5" stickbait (Senko - Trick Stick - Ocho) in one of my five most fish catching colors. Second would be a 4-5" kalin grub on an 1/8 oz jig weedless. Third would be a Pit Boss or brush hog style creature bait weightless or with 1/8-3/16 oz weighted drop dead VMC hook. The first one will account for at least 70% of my bass....large or small mouth. I love plastic fishing with a spinning reel Quote

Its best to go by lure rating and action. You could buy 2 Med power rods that are made by the same company but are 2 different lines like a St.Croix Mojo and St.Croix Premier for example, and the power of the rods could be totally different. Jigs with a light wire hook up to 5/16 I use a M. 3/8 and up with stouter wire hook I go with MH. Quote
