Most sensitive jig/ t-rig casting rod under $300

I apologize if this has been discussed previously. I've always used basic Lew's combos. I've finally decided to invest money in some rigs, since I already invest all my free time. I'm looking to buy a dedicated jig rod, and a dedicated t-rig rod. I was hoping some of y'all vets could give me some suggestions for the most sensitive rods I can get for $300 or under. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

I just paid $405 (before tax) for a Conquest 843c.

 

If you're trying to stick to your budget, try getting a 7'3 MH Poison Adrena during a labor day sale.

If you can't do that, then look into the Exprides, supposedly there is someone selling them for $200 New on Facebook.

The brand new 2020 Shimano Zodias look really nice also.

 

If you want something with a better warranty, take a look at Dobyns and St.Croix.

You raise a good point about warranties. I'm pretty rough on equipment. Buying used scares me. I have had a couple bad experiences buying used. Where are the labor day sales?

Kistler Helium is around $300 or less when you catch a sale. TW has a sale starting tomorrow or Fri I think. 

 

Of all my rods, this is definitely the most sensitive. Use it exclusively for t-rigs. My jigs are thrown on an Expride, which is a great rod. But I still think the Helium is more sensitive.

The Good thing about Dobyns, is that warranties extend to used rods. They don't ask for receipts, only the 6" logo section in most cases. 

 

Tackle Warehouse is having a 15% off Labor Day sale starting on the 4th and I'm sure some other places will having sales also.

Beat me to it. Can’t beat expride for the price. I also have a poison Adrena for jigs and t rigs and it’s fantastic.

7'3 mh or 7'2 h adrena at any tackle shop big tackle shop 15% off which they do, and they will ship. Call around and or wait for one to be in stock

You couldn't ask a more subjective question, knowone can objectively define rod sensitivity. 

Strike detection is what counts. Rods can't enhance feedback of what   the lure is doing underwater out of sight, only deaden line movements. It becomes what degree does the rod reduce lure/ line movements. The line is just as important as the rod, they work together. It comes down to personal preference and your strike detection skills. You need to touch and feel the rod to determine how it feels in your hands. Weight, castibily and balance with the lures you use and reel, line, etc. Weight is objective, 3.8 oz is about average for today's high modulus MHXF 7'3" casting rods.

You can't buy time on the water.

Lew's offers some pretty sensitive rods for under your price range.

I have a 7'1" St. Croix Bass X MHF with a Shimano Curado K 200. For me, that's about as sensitive as I've had. Bass X are $100 and some change.you can't beat St. Croix with your budget you may want to look at the Mojo Bass, Avid X or Legend Elite.

My suggestions: Champ Extreme 744 or 745 used can easily be found under 300, Orochi Braillist good solid rod for this, and Tatula Elite 7'MMH Brent Ehler. That's what I would look at.

Subjective it may be. My thought is by asking anglers with more experience using rods in this price  , if a certain rod is mentioned multiple times, it will probably feel pretty good to me. Strike detection I'm pretty confident with. I've been a line holder/watcher nearly all of my life. Small differences in bottom composition and transference of vibration is what I was referring to. It was a night and day difference the day I put down the old Zebcos. I primarily use 50lb Sufix 832 to flouro leader.  You definitely can't buy time on the water. My job requires that I work 10-14 hours, 5-7 days a week. My hope is by asking the anglers in this forum for suggestions, it will greatly reduce time spent in tackle shops handling multiple rods. I then can order a suggested rod, and spend that extra time on the water instead of shopping. Do you have a recommendation?

I’d go with a Megabass Orochi XX in the Tour Versatile (All around bottom contact), Braillist (Smaller jigs, lighter TRigs) or Perfect Pitch (3/8 oz and up jigs and TRigs) depending on the weights you throw the most. I know you said you were possibly looking at two rods. If so I’d suggest the Braillist and Perfect Pitch. You can cover a LOT of things with these two rods. Megabass tapers are very unique and in my opinion extremely versatile. Sensitivity is very good at their price point, and certainly with braid to fluoro you won’t be wondering what’s going on with your bait. Hope this helps!

Which models have you handled? I like Lew's. I've been using them exclusively for years. Just lower end like Mach 2 and crush.
