5-20 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I would like to pick up a crankbait rod. I throw mostly shallow to medium cranks. Thinking about the Expride 72MH just because it’s a really versatile rod and I could use it for a bunch of other tactics. If this rod would work well enough, I might go ahead and get it. Haven’t seen this rod in person and will need to order it sight unseen. Curious about if any of you have thrown cranks on this rod and if it works well enough? Open to suggestions for other rods. But please note I am not interested in a glass rod. Don’t want a custom rod either. Would prefer a 6’10 to 7’2 rod at most. Thanks. Quote
thunderblack Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Hi there, I would go after the 7' glass expride. Great for lipless and squarebills. Quote

I was going to mention the same but he said he wasn't interested in a glass rod. I would go with the 6'10 M if I were just going to throw cranks, but if you want a versitale rod I suppose you could go with the 7'2 MH. I have the 7'2 MH and I use it for jigs, not sure I would throw cranks on it. Quote
Super User Teal Posted September 9, 2020 Super User Posted September 9, 2020 Get the expride and buy cheap CRANKING rod till u can get another expride Quote
GReb Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I really enjoy my Kistler KLX graphite crankbait rod. It’s my go to squarebill rod A 3 power Dobyns will throw cranks fine. The Sierra series would be best since they have a slower taper Best cheap option would be Falcon Buccoo from sportsman’s outfitters. They have several crankbait models on sale for $69. Great rod for the price. Quote

I'm not a big fan of glass either and this rod is really nice so its not your typical glass rod but my bad for not seeing that. Quote
