Tatsu Dave Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Just wondering we always seem to be in the minority on fishing forums....heck last site I couldn't find any I know the fishing up here is lighter pressure but worth it IMO. Curious I guess if many guys call it home. Dave Quote
shimanoangler Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Alive and kicking.... I often feel the same way, ie anyone doing what I am doing??? Hard to find forums centered our lakes and region. I am an AVID smallmouth fisherman and starting to feel the pressure of the changing seasons, knowing my time on the water is running out before the regulations change and I can't fish anywhere, or before the weather changes and its too cold to wet a line.... I have started looking for Maine based posts, so just wanted to let you know there is at least one other guy on the water in Maine... ? 1 Quote
Mainly Fishin' Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Young in Maine but been fishing here all my life. I am proud to call it my home state! 1 Quote
DanielG Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Southern Maine in Acton on Mousam Lake. Just outside of Sanford. Been here all my life. I know the bottom of this 4.5 mile lake's edge because I've been fishing/snorkeling it since I was a kid many decades ago. That being said, I'm still working to pull fish out of this lake with mixed success. 1 Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 2, 2020 Author Posted September 2, 2020 Well its sure good to see other Maine posters and members on here! Great place to live and fish, we spent the morning fishing one of the rivers and did very well. I'm straight out right now but will post some pics in the next day or two. Dave Quote
Smokinal Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Absolutely! I live in southern maine and fish mostly the Augusta area. So much good water up here! I think there are more fishermen that you think; everyone just keeps this gold mine to themselves. You have to be careful what you read and where that information is referring to. I've found Maine to be very different than most water south of us. 1 Quote
CHIP-MAINE Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 lewiston here- love fishing the andro for smallies there is bass fishing group on facebook for maine that gets a lot more attention 1 Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Thank you all for letting me know Maine is represented on here Heard the Andro is pretty good for producing large smallies, anyplace that does that is good in my book. Dave Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 7, 2020 Author Posted September 7, 2020 Well I bet there's one thing we all have in common....catching Smallmouth Bass Quote
marinetech Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Grew up in the 60's and 70's on Sebago. I don't fish it any more. I do fish just about anywhere else. Dead River being one of my favorites. 1 Quote
Tatsu Dave Posted September 13, 2020 Author Posted September 13, 2020 So tell me guys......what size bass do you catch in southern Maine? Hard pressed up here to get to that 6# mark just curious if you top that. Don't worry I won't come south to fish as I get a twitch when subjected to busy ramps and heavy fishing pressure I like it quiet and tranquil. I believe we will break the 6# barrier but probably not much more and not very frequently. Good to hear from you, more Maine fisherman on here than I imagined. Quote
ohtheguilt Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Resurrecting this post because I recently moved to Maine (Portland) from Georgia (Atlanta). Needless to say, I'm looking for people to fish with and for any sort of direction on bass fishing in Maine. Would definitely love to learn from you guys, as it sounds like things here are a bit different than I am used to... Quote
MassBass Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I have been spending some time in ME and you can count me in the Androscoggin river smallie clique. Quote
BurrStone Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Not a Mainer but spent 10 summers up there as a kid. This year = 2 week-long trips. Washington County in June, Kennebec County in July. Love the bass fishing in Maine. Quote
MainelyBASS Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Maine is very underrated in the bass fishing arena. Except the time when Bassmaster Magazine said that Maine was home to 3 of the top 100 bass lakes in the country. That got the water a little busy. As someone who runs a bass club and has fished tournaments for 20 years now, I can say Maine has more lakes that put out 20lb limits than any other state in New England. Not to mention the fact that a few of them could be won with almost 20lbs of smallmouth bass. We are very fortunate to live and fish here. Quote
ShelbysDad Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Vacation in Maine every year and are planning a move there next year to the Ellsworth area. Had a great day on Abrams Pond, 2 18", 2 20" and a 22" all smallmouth in 20 minutes.
